After Wheaton left TNG just let seat fillers fill in. At least until Ro came around. I can’t ever remember the names of the fill in pilots.

Ensign Gates is the only one who's name I remember.

Lanei Chapman was great in Space Above and Beyond. I wish they had given her more than 4 episodes in TNG.

Tahir has said he'd love to play Robau again. I envision him as the President of the Federation in SNW/TOS' time.
As it gets later into the show, I wouldn't mind some of the "no man has gone before" pieces starting to take form, Gary Mitchell, Lee Kelso, early Sulu, Alden, Piper, Yeoman Smith, Dehner, etc.
Love to see Jennifer Morrison back as Winona Kirk. Now who can play George Kirk Sr cause there is no way in hell They will be able to get Chris Hemsworth back.
I am open to anyone. I have watched and enjoyed every Trek show, with the exception of TOS and TAS. So a lot of these characters. I know the core characters from the movies, but would love to see Carol Marcus, more Harry Mudd, and Rand.
The TOS character I am the most excited to see is McCoy. Urban was such a great choice in the Kelvin movies, I hope they can find one equally as good. I personally feel they nailed the castings for Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Chappel, and now Scott. So I really trust the creators.

I don't know if the studio is fishing for opinions but my Facebook feed has seen about a dozen Roddenberry wished he'd kept Rand articles. Maybe I'm just in a fanboy echo chamber.

Lol, she may have just been pulling Tuvok's leg. Problem is, onscreen data is very inconsistent. She's an NCO IN STIV, a Lt.jg in STVI, a Lt Commander in Flashback but a commander in STIII.
She was clearly under cover with Starfleet Intelligence in STIII, hence the red hair. We know that Tuvok's memory was screwy so likely her rank in STVI was correct but she ended her career as a Lt-commander, which he knew. STVI takes place 6 years after STV. There's just enough time for her to work for Sulu for 3 years to make ensign as per her line in Flashback with a further 3 years to work up the ranks.
So I guess if she comes into SNW it will either be as a crewman in engineering or a petty officer first class, likely titled engineering specialist or transporter specialist.
One other possibility is that she knew Enterprise was coming back in STIII and she asked someone to sneak her into the officers lounge. That sounds more like classic Rand.
Writing-wise, it's the best so far.
Did somebody already say Charlene Masters. (Played by Janet McLachlan) She was dedicated and smart and got shit done - in that one episode she got to do shit.
