Spoilers Legacy character announced for SNW

The Delta wasn't exclusive to TOS Enterprise. The crew of Memory Alpha also wore the Delta. I think there was another non-Enterprise person wearing it in another episode.

Anyone commanding a navy ship is called captain, regardless of rank. On the other hand, if the cuff braids indicate captain, then I'd take that as rank

Yep, we've seen the Delta on Starbase personnel and officers from other ships. It's never been Enterprise exclusive. The use of a non Delta badge even prompted a memo from Justman back in the 60s.

"Mum, I want Captain Kirk!"

Mother: "We have Captain Kirk at home."

Captain Kirk at home:

Kirk is totally gonna bang Kahn’s great, great, great, great Granddaughter isn’t he.

I mean, he was gonna have to show up eventually…like sometime in the final season. To me it’s like the Enterprise showing up in Disco S1/S2…the producers just couldn’t help themselves.

In my head cannon , he was captain of the Saladin prior to Enterprise. The DC comics first series annual 1 had that story. I've been staring at his wrists trying to make out his rank. Trekmovie says SNW is 6 years before he takes command. Kinda gave up on canon timeline with Kurtzman and am just hoping for good Trek. Discovery has improved, Picard season 2 is better so far and lets hope SNW continues the trend. Is it classic Trek, no but I'm, ok with it.

If Anson doesn't want to carry on they're kind of in a bind continuity-wise. Either recast Pike or transition to Kirk.

If Mount’s leaving – which hasn’t been confirmed btw - there are ways to get around that that does not involve recasting Mount or bringing in Kirk so early. At least with the prime universe, mirror Kirk is another story altogether.

- Recently promoted Commodore Matt Decker comes in, and leaves after showing early signs of mental instability.

- Commander/Captain Una gets a shot at the chair. It rewrites history, with Captain Garrett no longer being the first female captain of the Enterprise, but that was never set in stone to begin with.

- Even Robert April being given the captain’s chair one more time.

Unless this is a mission that involves the Farragut and Pike has to work with her crew, this feels like jumping the gun.

Still bullshit.

totally agree. It bothers me that they think the show needs to have Captain Kirk before 1 episode airs. If the show is struggling after 1 or 2 seasons and they need to pull the trigger like Worf DS9…that’s one thing. But at most it should have been a quick cameo sometime during final episode.

Do you really want to know?

insert Picard Facepalm meme

Ya know, I’m not thrilled with this but there is an out.

MENDEZ: You ever met Chris Pike?
KIRK: We met when he was promoted to Fleet Captain.

What if Kirk comes on Enterprise much like Pike came on Discovery? And at that time Pike is promoted to Fleet Captain. Presuming this new actor just joins for a season, it saves continuity and allows for a relationship between Kirk and Pike which could realistically lead to Kirk replacing Pike. And keeps Pike aboard Enterprise for a time longer for sure.

But ultimately now, yeah, think they’re building towards an eventual TOS reboot.
