Left 4 Dead 2-details

I'm a little disappointed by the lack of L4D content. I didn't expect as much new content as TF2, though I was expecting Valve to bring out a couple of new campaigns, some created by them and some of the best community made ones like they do with TF2, along with a few more unique survival mode levels that weren't in the campaign mode like the lighthouse level.

I still plan on buying L4D2 though, but I am a little disappointed in Valve. If they pull this again in 2010 by releasing very little content for L4D2 and then releasing L4D3 I might be done with the series.

Personally I'm hoping people who already have L4D on their Steam account get a discount on L4D2, and full integration with the first game so we can play the old levels without switching to the old game.

Ah, man speaking PC. I'm 360, which colors my comments. Community content? Wat dat?:wtf:

You paid $50 for a game. I don't know how much games normally cost in the US, but a quick currency converter check says that's £30. A normal retail game costs £39.99 in the UK, so it sounds like you got it cheap. That game received almost universally excellent reviews and has received numerous game of the year awards from different bodies.

So, did you enjoy it ? If there was never going to be any further DLC would you be able to still say you had your fun ?

Gabe Newell has already said that DLC support, that 99% of other publishers would charge you for, for the first game will continue.

Try being a sports game fan for five minutes where they update the squads and kits every year and call that a full price game. Or a music game fan where they change the setlist and call that a full price game, or even just release one with a bunch of tracks from previous games in the series.

I never bought Left 4 Dead. I played the free weekend, but it was kinda boring. I did almost buy it based on the promise of additional content, but I decided against it. All I'm saying is that I understand why fans are disappointed with the sequel. Mario Party games you expect every year, but not Valve games.

Oh, and who buys sports games every year? Just buy one NFL game per console generation and you're set.

No you don't. They don't even know why they're disappointed. They haven't played it yet.

So it's okay for them to release free content for their games every year, but when they have the gall to charge money in exchange for their products suddenly L4D is the new Mario Party or Madden? :wtf:

I do, specifically FIFA, because the old ones die online within days of the new ones coming out.

What can you do? Fans love to piss and moan about every damn thing.

Speaking of which, Valve just released a new update for the game. Its more a bug fix than anything, but it does make it easier to find groups to play custom maps with by giving you to option on the menu screen. I need to hit http://www.l4dmaps.com/ and download a couple.

I keep wonderign to myself if they could've avoided some of this crap with a differnet name. Something like, 'L4D: New Orleans'. It works for the GTA series. I don't hear fans bitching when THEY put out a new game every year.

I'm thinking that the moaning is coming from PC users-everyone I talk to on the 360 is eager for the sequel.

But thats just it.. people DO buy sports games EVERY year. But of course these are the same people who bitch about buying a new L4D... I have it.. it was cool.. we hammered through it in a night online... Then beat it on the harder levels. oddly enough it's about to be traded in along with midnight club for Red Faction.. You just don't know the joy of driving through building to take them out..

Yeah it's pretty clear to me that there is a PC and console divide in this argument, I'm sure if Valve had been able to give away the TF2 updates for free to 360 owners some would feel the same way.

Actually most of the people who are doing the bitching are hardcore Valve PC fans, I doubt there's that much crossover between them and people who buy Madden every year.

TF2 also shipped with a pretty small amount of content, but it now has several times more content then it shipped with, all for free. As I posted earlier, I didn't expect L4D to have as much new content as TF2, but I did expect more then we actually got, based on what Valve employees said and based on TF2.

I am buying L4D2 because I think it will be more in line with what Valve wanted the game to be originally, and will get more support, but I do feel a little burned by Valve.

You guys should take a peek at the official L4D forum sometime. You never saw such a collection of bitchy little girls in your life.

(Well, maybe outside of a ST XI forum) *Runs*

A link? I have wandered the Internet for years and got lost early on. I have, in fact, been sleeping in the Doctor Who forum because I'm afraid if I leave I'll never find my way back here.
