I know, I know. I'm sure this topic has been covered before. Humor me. What is the worst? Your choices can obviously change if you haven't seen all of a series or if you are just fickle lol.

DS9 - love the arcs and shades of gray

TNG - it started in the 80s!

ENT - best visual looking Trek series and gets a tough rap that hopefully will diminish over time - loved season 3

TOS- this can change as I have seen the least of this series and it was before my time

VOY - always felt like TNG Lite and just a replication of other shows before it (that being said I am fixing to purchase VOY season 3 because I found it for cheap LOL)

Love them all, but what is your least favorite?

tos - antiquated, partly dreadful acting. some outstanding episodes.

tng - the home of troi, worf, and the crushers, who cheapened it. some outstanding episodes.

ds9 - quite good, but too many poor episodes, and the bad guys, the dominion, were implausible.

voy - the best of star trek, in every aspect. finally something else than klingons or romulans in every other episode.

ent - 3 seasons with essentially nothing happening, and when it at long last starts to get better, it's cancelled.

I must be a man of simple tastes because I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 seasons of ENT. I still think if people actually vote in this unoriginal topic, it will come down to ENT and VOY for the worst. People who vote for ENT can you please explain why you think it is so bad so I can understand your logic? Oh, and even I am repressing TATV. "End program." shudders

If it wasn't clear in my OP, I voted for Voyager hands down.

I really wanted to like ENT, but I could rarely watch any episode of past the 10 minute mark. I finally forced myself to watch, and was underwhelmed. Here are my problems with the show:

  1. Archer came across as a total jerk (Exhibit A: A Night in Sickbay)
  2. T'Pol was nothing more than 7/9 lite, down to the costuming (a Vulcan in a catsuit?) Worse, all of her lines were delivered in a monotone completely devoid of any inflection, but this is more of a reflection on the actress than the character.
  3. Phlox was a weird mishmash of Neelix and Quark, and served no purpose except to be the token "weird alien."
  4. Too many episodes were just flat out dull. Nothing interesting happened. (Exhibit A: Two Days and Two Nights)
  5. When the show wasn't boring, it was flat out stupid. (Exhibit A: Unexpected)
This is my own personal opinion of course, and I am very interested in hearing from people who liked the series. BTW, I did enjoy the In a Mirror Darkly episodes.

I have seen all the shows over the years and come to love all of them except DS9. I grew up watching reruns of TOS(wasnt born when first aired) and watching TNG. So those shows came to be my most favorites even after all the others came out. Once DS9,Voy,Ent came out I came to likking them after a time except for DS9. I know when I first seen DS9, I didnt care for much like the others, and even now I still dont like it. I guess the reasons why I never came to liking DS9 like the others because it wasnt as intresting as the other shows. DS9 to me seemed to be nothing more than a sci-fi soap oprea, which just was plan boring. I loved and still love TOS,TNG,VOY,ENT because it was all about exploring space and discover new and exciting planets, civilations to bodly go where no one has gone before. Those shows was always exciting and keept you intrested in the show, DS9 just didnt seem to do that for me.

Sometimes I can't choose between VOY and ENT because I was disappointed with both series. However, I think I have to rank VOY as the worst because it never fully realized its potential and it almost completely abandoned the point of its premise early into the first season. The series was conceived as the tale of two opposing crews struggling for survival, forced to work together in an effort to get home while navigating through unexplored space. It was supposed to be different. It wasn't supposed to feel like a rehash of TNG. VOY could have given us some really interesting things but instead it gave us a lot of recycled plots from older Trek series, or episodes that I found utterly forgettable and boring. The characters, all of which had enormous potential, were often given little to no true character development (with the exception of a token few, like The Doctor and Seven of Nine). Instead of developing new and interesting villains and aliens, the show instead gave us inferior versions of Klingons (the Kazon) and then over-used the popular TNG villain, the Borg. VOY managed a couple of really interesting new aliens, such as the Vidiians and Species 8472, but neither was really featured too often or given center stage for long.

When I look at VOY, I don't see anything really groundbreaking about the series. It didn't do anything terribly interesting, despite all of the potential that was there. ENT at least gave us a lot of great material with the Vulcans and Andorians, and did some really good work in its final season. VOY did...uh.... not a whole lot.

My order would be:
DS9
TNG
TOS
VOY
ENT

If you had posted this maybe 2 weeks ago, I would of put VOY last. I've been re-watching VOY and I actually enjoy the first few seasons, perhaps when I get to season 5 it will move back down to last place. ENT, I didn't really enjoy it all. The opening theme irked me off the bat and the first 2 seasons were very dull and uneventful to me.

VOY. BLEH.

At least ENT had a good concept, and got better at the end, where the concept started to carry it even in spite of the characters. VOY never had that...at least, the concept wasn't taken seriously like it should've been.

All of this is personal opinion, of course--take it or leave it.

The worst of Star Trek is still pretty good. Every series has some bad points. While watching everything again I am more tolerant of some things and less tolerant of others.

Ent - Archer was hard to take the first two years but improved a lot the next two.

DS9 - To me it went one season too long. Maybe I just did not like the way they wrapped things up.

TOS - I got tired of duplicate earths.

Voyager - Some concepts bothered me. A program (the Doctor) that could be moved but never coppied. They were always running low on energy and had to ration the use of the replicator for food, yet they could run the holodeck 24 hours a day. They create species 8472 as cold blooded killers intent on being the only lifeform in existance, then abandone that in season 5. They turn a 70 year trip home into a 200 year trip by spending weeks here, there and everywhere that caught their interest.

TNG - While rewatching all the series on DVD I struggled the most with TNG. I don't know if it was the bad first two years, the preachy attitude, or one too many Prime Directive episodes.

Right now if I had to give up a set of DVD's it would be TNG. Next year that could change.

VOY. ENT beats it because it had one decent season at least. But Janeway could wipe the floor with Archer, that much is certain.

Someone on this site with Billy Cosby and Pudding Pops in his avatar has a sig comparing Trek to pizza. Even bad Trek is good like bad pizza. It's really hard to botch Trek and pizza. I want black coffee everytime Janeway has some and starts talking in that three packs a day voice. Rambling, but my point is this - Voyager is bad pizza (there's no shame in that). Tastes pretty good too.

Enterprise. I never found a lot to like with this series. The characters were boring or I disliked them. Archer was a racist. Granted the Vulcans aren't a real race, but it's generally the same idea and I can't root for a hero with a flaw like that. T'Pol has no charm like Spock and Tuvok had, which is something a Vulcan needs or they come off as cold. Hoshi, Mayweather and Reed could have been replaced by an old pizza box and I wouldn't have noticed.

I generally knew what was going to happen in the big picture, so I had trouble caring too much. The Federation was going to be formed and the humans, Vulcans and Andorians were going to be in it regardless of the conflicts that the show created.

Voyager is next in line. But I have trouble rating it so low, because I love a lot of the elements, but it makes me so angry. It has these wonderful things going for it. A great concept, characters with great potential, the potential for interesting character dynamics between the Maquis and Starfleet. But they don't take those anywhere... Voyager could have easily been my favorite series, but sadly nothing happened with it. Oh well...

If this is the poll for the least favorite live action Trek series, where is the poll for the least favorite animated trek series? What's that you say?.....There was only one animated series?.....That's too bad.

I was never a real basher of the show, but ENT still remains my least favorite Trek series. It just wasn't for me.

VOY, I'm afraid. I just don't like many/most of the characters, and the quality of the writing is a big step down from TNG/DS9. ENT was a return to form as far as I'm concerned.

Voyager, easily. No disrespect to the people who dig that show, but I hated the hell out of it. I could never get behind the characters and writing.

T'Pol has no charm like Spock and Tuvok had, which is something a Vulcan needs or they come off as cold.

I second this. The characters of Tuvok and Spock displayed reactions and dare I say it, a minute amount of emotion…T'Pol was a robot.

Voyager is next in line. But I have trouble rating it so low, because I love a lot of the elements, but it makes me so angry. It has these wonderful things going for it. Again we agree. Voyager displayed a lot of promise at the beginning, but seemed to fall off during the third season.

My least favourite Star Trek shows are Voyager, followed by Enterprise. I've seen a handful of great Voyager episodes, but the majority are either mediocre or awful (and I've seen quite a few, it's on TV all the time over here). Oh, and I can't stand most of the characters. There's also the fact that it didn't live up to it's promising premise and just turned into TNGv2 with less memorable stories and cast.

I can't really comment too much on Enterprise. I've seen a few episodes, and they seemed pretty dull and boring to me, though granted they were from season one and two which don't seem to be regarded that well even by fans of the show. I haven't seen enough to say that I HATE the show, and I can't say I DISLIKE the characters (except T'Pol who reminds me of Seven, who is one of my least favourite characters in the franchise). Maybe one day I'll watch season three and four and see if they change my opinion, but there's lots of other shows I want to see first.

TOS, DS9 and TNG are the holy trinity of Star Trek and are infallible in every way (unless you count TNG season one, I personally ignore it).
