Least favorite character

Wasn't there some rumor that Wesley Crusher was INDEED a Mary Sue (or Marty Stu, whatever), for someone that helped make the show? Roddenberry maybe?

To a lot of people who read fanfics, or even just regular original stories, Mary Sues tend to be easily picked out and annoying just by the fact that they're oh so leet at everything.

I suspect all that anyone is able to confirm is that Roddenberry named Wesley after his own middle name, although he supposedly toyed with the idea of making the character female, and named Leslie instead.

I would have preferred Leslie.

LOL, now I know what species you mean.
"Mr. Dathon, what do the Romulans say?"
"Julius Caesar, crossing the Rubicon!"
"What?"
"Genghis Khan, his fist closed!"
"???"
"Hitler, his eyes to the east!"

I will get flack for this, but I didn't like Guinan...her character was fine, but Whoopi Goldberg has turned into such a shrill, overbearing know-it-all, I can no longer separate the two...

Interesting - I liked Guinan (I would have loved an episode or movie addressing what the heck is up with her and Q) but totally agree with you about Whoopi

I dunno. It'd take away from the mystery. Like introducing us to Bob Sacamano, or explaining the noodle incident.

The noodle incident? (Haha, sounds like the title of a Guns N' Roses album:p)...I agree about Guinan and Q. I did like the idea of Guinan's backstory being filled in a little during a proposed future Enterprise season, but I preferred her past being vague on TNG. If anything, I thought "Time's Arrow" did a disservice to the character.

I actually LIKED Pulaski because of her interactions with Data. It was hilarious to watch and I always got the feeling that she respected him somewhat regardless of whatever she said to him. Maddox, on the other hand, was just a jerk.

That being said... my absolute least favorite was Jellico. What an asshole! Even the fact that he made Data his first officer isn't enough to make me like him at all!

"The noodle incident" -- :lol::guffaw::rommie::guffaw::lol::rommie:

One of those times when even three smilies weren't quite enough! Thanks, Myasishchev.

SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT THAT IS! PLEASE! :klingon:
I was frustrated with these references too, so I searched on Google for "star trek" "noodle incident" and found this page:

The Noodle Incident is something from the past that is sometimes referred to but never explained, with the implication that it's just too ludicrous for words, and the reality that any explanation would fall short of audience expectations. Questions about it are often met with "You Don't Want To Know..."

Several examples from Star Trek are given.

Sorry, Too Much! I was too busy snickering to notice your plea. It doesn't have anything to do with Trek or scifi. "The noodle incident" was a running gag in the late, great, magnificent comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. If that rings a bell, maybe "the noodle incident" will as well. If you are interested but don't remember this joke, I could probably find one of the strips that references it, but as Myasishchev indicates, the mystery never was solved. You might like it - just thinking about "the noodle incident" makes me giggle, I can tell you that.

Ensign Ro. Never, ever, ever liked her and was soooooo delighted when she got her whiny self off the ship to be all self-righteous with the Maquis. I know it's so very wrong of me, but it made me love season 7.

^ She was only in, like, three episodes, right? I enjoyed her in those - not sure I would have long term (although I might have), but what she added was an interesting "It's a hard world out there" flavor to TNG. I think Yar was supposed to do that, too, but she didn't. I didn't find her the least bit self-righteous - she did have a big ol' chip on her shoulder, but I kind of enjoyed that.
