Least Disliked Star Trek Couple

I'm rather surprised Kirk/Edith Keeler wasn't one of the starting options.

From this one I was trying to exclude all the one-off romances and keep it just things that recurred (unless it was a spouse or something we only saw once, or mother-of-my-child, or some permanence to the tie that pulled it beyond the boundaries of the limited actual appearance)

One-off romances is a game to come. :)

Thanks for playing all! This one was fun to watch zip by. I had no idea what would win, but somehow I did not expect Sarek & Amanda. Though I suppose it's quite fitting, as they might be the couple weave through the most different Trek properties. And how brilliantly recast they were on Disco, both Mia Kirshner and James Frain are incredible in those parts.

I'll have another list up shortly... :bolian:

What about Q and Lady? Their relationship lasted for about...ohh... 5 billion years

I kind of missed this one. Oops. Pretty strong pairings made it to the final three so I can't complain there. Sarek/Amanda is a good winner. I love them in Journey to Babel and TVH.

Although, alas, I don't believe they shared a scene in TVH. Sarek is on Earth the whole movie and Amanda is on Vulcan.

A missed opportunity, perhaps, although I'm not sure how they could have managed it, considering the structure of the plot.

People always talk up the horn dog Kirk angle, but honestly after rewatching the series as a whole last year it really struck how rarely he really gets involved. Like half of his 'romantic' scenes are either forced on him or him manipulating people for information.

McCoy, on the other hand, seems to have a girl in every port...

That's because we only see Kirk when there's a story to tell. I am guessing that he gets all his dalliances off camera.

I don't see why we have to assume he must have a million dalliances at all. Nothing in TOS or the TOS movies really suggests it. He's a diligent, dedicated, duty-bound bookworm who's really only known to have had a handful of relationships over a period of many years.

NuKirk, on the other hand, sure. He's a horn dog. Because he's basically based on the urban legend of Kirk rather than the actual original Kirk.

Yeah, Kirk having a different girl every week is more of an urban myth than anything.

^^ This. Prime Kirk isn't really a horndog, he's a serial monogamist.

We could just as easily say that NuKirk was raised under different circumstances that led to him being more of a horndog.
