Hello, First off let me say like you all I am a super big fan of what Star Trek it self brings. Growing up, my first memories really is of Star Trek. That being said, fast forward about 25 years or so. I am a music Producer and performer and in my live shows I do use a custom interface which in some respects does look a bit like LCARS. It is a touchscreen tablet that lets me do what I do, look cool doing it and works well for me. That got me thinking and I have done my research don't you worry.
Is there a software for XP (I know I know) that would be a true simulator to the LCARS experience? I know about LCARS term and I know about LCARS 42 (no longer on XP) and I also know about LCARS windows. All three of these simulate the LCARS experience within windows to function as a windows replacement.
When you look at all the Star Trek games that are out and doing very well. All yes simulate the world of Star Trek to a degree in their own way. All use LCARS in their own way. What I am looking for is a LCARS that lets one control the ship and the functions of it. For example, say I want to raise shields well that is done at tatical so open the tactical display and learn how to do it. or say set a course to that pleasure planet we all love. (you know what I'm talking about) I am talking a true to star trek LCARS that literally puts you behind the console in the star trek world...Not windows. I don't need explorer I need shields.
I also know about a thing called atamis or something like that...cool idea, on the right track but thats for a group of people to do something. And I think that this in role playing could function the same way as long as everyone stayed on their own job. But lets be real. Data can open a channel just as well as worf.
I have been all over the net to try and find something that does the job and so far I have seen nothing. I think it would be really cool to be able to use LCARS like the cast did. Do what the cast did. I wanna fire some torpedos and not watch the ship from the out side do it. (STO or a bunch of others)
Sorry to go on. I just wanted to make the point...I am not looking for another version of windows. Thank you very much to all have taken the time to read my book. I hope with your help I can get a answer or at least get told NOPE does not exist...TMH
