Lauren Shuler Donner wants to do X4

Let's have Singer ignore X3 and do "X-Men Returns." Make Wolverine spy on the students as they sleep.
I love that idea. And let's see the X-Men try to save a crashing jetliner. Sadly, they completely fail because their combined powers are woefully inadequate. Hundreds of people die. Afterwards, the X-Men become depressed...

Magneto's back, but only interested in real estate using enhance magnetic powers to create a new land mass. Thus we give the Genosha nod, which is what he'd call his new land.

Wolverine discovers he has a kid with some woman he can't remember that well but does just enough to create drama.

Kal Penn appears a mutant with no lines. Juggernaut plays a piano duet with Wolverine's kids then the kid kills him. Magneto's new moll is Domino, who doesn't do anything except act ditzy.

James Marsden returns as Cyclops, somehow, just to be emasculated again.

Wolverine appears near death at the end, but then disappears from the hospital room.

Personally, I'd rather not see any more X-films from FOX so that the rights can revert back to Marvel, but of course we know that's not going to happen. :(

Actually Logan spying on the students makes a whole lot of sense for his character than it does for Superman spying on Lois and her family...sigh i hate this comment but I digress. I'm up for a X4 as long as Brett Ratner or Zak Penn stay the hell away from it. I'm more excited about X-Men The First Class though, the comics are good, and as bad as Wolverine was, one of the things that disappointed me about the first X-Men movie was that it had a lack of a team. Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and when Logan joined Wolverine. That's not a X-Men line up that's a gutted team with no sense of continuity. One of my favourite scenes in X-Men was when Xavier was giving Logan a tour of the mansion and explaining the history of the school and we see Jean and Scott "training" in the backyard. I want an origin movie damn it. I wouldn't mind if X4 added elements of the New Mutants movie they have proposed either.

I've no doubt that since Donnor has mentioned this recently that the stars of the movies are getting asked questions about their interest in returning.

Ellen Page was just asked...
Although there's no telling if here 'X-Men: The Last Stand' character will be on screen again, actress Ellen Page seems interested in the notion of returning to the franchise as Kitty Pryde.
Out promoting her new film 'Whip It', Page admitted to MTV Splash Page she knows nothing about future X-Men movies. However, she does love the character.
"I think Kitty Pryde is rad, so who knows what will happen. I have no idea though," Page told MTV.

And I'd like to see Cyclops finally get the role he's deserved since the first movie. I mean, we didn't see a body. Maybe he's just knocked unconscious somewhere.

As a huge Cyclops fan, my cheesy comics explanation was that, even as Dark Phoenix, Jean couldn't bring herself to kill Scott, so she stuck him in the same sort of telekinetic bubble that she was in, and stuck him under Alkalai Lake. X4 begins with his eyebeams blasting through the water at the moment of her death, when the bubble collapses. He bursts to the surface and swims to shore. He then reappears unexpectedly at a key moment, like say, when the X-Men are getting their butts kicked by Sentinels.

I can't say I'm interested in the First Class movie.
I am tired of prequels and eager to ease the bitter pill of X3.
Any movie that follows X3 would be too tied down in its awful plot developments to be any good, imo. I'd like to see a complete reboot of a First Class, but keep Patrick Stewart like the Bond franchise kept Judi Dench.

I'm up for X4, do it with a competent director and script and we'll show up.
Given that the not-at-all competent last two X-films did great b.o., I hardly think that Donner et. al are shaking in their boots at that ultimatum. ;)

The minute Cyclops reappears in X4, he'd get sent away on a far away mission and then we'd just spend the next 120 minutes with Wolverine. :p

Any X-Men films not focusing or staring Wolverine are doomed to failure. As far as the public is concerned, the whole damn universe is about him and only him. I mean the name of their new X-Men cartoon is WOLVERINE and The X-men(small print). Because we weren't given any reason to give a shit about the other characters in the films, with the possible exception of Rogue. Thanks for that BTW, Bryan Singer. That hairy, dull piece of shit took over the movies the same way he took over the Marvel Universe.

I want a reboot of the whole damn franchise a la Batman Begins. No spin-offs. No prequels. No sequels. A scorched earth reboot. Because that's what they're wanting to do for Deadpool. Which is no surprise, considering Wolverine ruins anything good he comes across. A reboot where Scott isn't a pathetic joke, Rogue isn't a teenage emo-kid, and Storm is played by someone who can act. That's what I want.

I'm all for scrapping the Singerverse and going back to square one with a true First Class with Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, non hairy Beast, and Angel as teens or young adults (preferably the latter) and focus on them mainly. Keep it simple, fun and adventurous with a strong message about tolerance and throw the fanboys a bone by making a separate Wolverine movie full of clusterfuck cameos, explosions and Hugh Jackman flexing in his wife beater and grimacing like he's in perpetual loaf pinching mode. I know which one my family and I will be going to.

Yeah, a reboot's not going to happen. Not that I would mind one -- adherring to previously established films is a tricky and often unsuccessful approach -- but as the last Wolverine film proved FOX is obviously intent on sticking to the universe of the first three films. I think that's going to hinder a lot of future stories but what do I know?

I think a reboot is possible. If Marvel Studioes/Fox are talking seriously about a reboot for Fantastic Four and Spider-Man 5 and 6 being a possible reboot its possible for X-Men to be rebooted. X-Men The First Class would be essentially a reboot as well.

I believe that was because Hugh Jackman was wanting to do another outing as Logan, he pushed it through. He did get a producer credit after all. I know that type of credit is the easiest to get in a movie. It probably just means that his being so gung-ho to do another one was what got it the money from the studio to do it in the first place.

But count me in for booting the Singer universe and starting the franchise right with the real original X-Men. And get rid of the black leather for everyone. This is no motorcycle club or gay bar or band of rock stars. These are superheroes, and superheroes wear costumed uniforms.

^^ Fox wanted Jackman back just as badly as he did, and they insisted on doing a lame-ass straight-up prequel (rather than the proper Japan self-contained story) to boot. Given such restrictions, why not toss Cyclops and Xavier in for a little flavoring?

Fox'll attempt to milk the Jackman-Wolvie cow machine for as long as it can, but it's entirely conceivable, perhaps even likely, that the current X-continuity will die when that ends. (Which could well be after Wolverine 2; after that, how much more could they do with him before the events of X1?

As for X4, even rounding up McKellen, Stewart, Jackman and Berry could be tough, to say nothing of Grammer. I'd be surprised if they prove able to do so.

It's already been confirmed First Class is going to be a prequel. Yeah, it could be a reboot, but it ain't gonna happen.
