Last star trek episode you'd watch?

No, I don't mean it in the sense of what would you think the very worst episode is. There have been enough threads dealing with that :)

You lie in bed. Suddenly you wake up with a jolt and see Death standing at your bed. In his black robe, and long sickle, the complete works. And with DVD or Blueray copies of all Star Trek series.

He's telling you you are about to die. You will not be allowed any goodbyes to your family -death comes suddenly sometimes-, but you are allowed to (re-)watch one single episode of any Star Trek series before you go. No two- or more-parters or movies, so for example Best of Both Worlds as a complete story is out, though you are of course allowed to select part 1 or part 2 of that as a single episode. Also, there is to be no haggling about using the time for something else. It's either watching a single episode with Death and then leave with him, or leaving with him immediately.

So, which one will it be ? I'm not sure which one I'd pick myself, but I will tell as soon as I know. I might even be tempted to break my own rule and go with the Generations movie since that one very much deals with mortality and the purpose of life, (even though I do not consider it the best movie)....

So I can't say goodbye to my family and friends, nor can I get my affairs in order. But, I can watch an episode of Star Trek with Death? And not even a two-parter?

I would tell Death that obviously the universe is very poorly designed and I really don't care what happens now.

I would put on the episode with Picard explaining mortality and how it makes us who we are. Or maybe the Inner Light. Death is so moved by it he leaves me be.

But if death can go across time I'd ask him if we can watch it in a better format than bluray / dvd, maybe holodeck style future tech.

@1001001,

Well, the 'not allowed any goodbyes' was mostly just to let other factors be no consideration in this choice. If it works better for you in this phantasy scenario, just assume you'll get all the time you require for saying goodbyes and putting your affairs in order, but that no stalling tactics will be allowed, and that eventually, after doing all that you will still be back at the same choice.

The 'two-parter' thing was mainly to avoid people replying they would take a two parter, or even the entire final DS9 10 eps-or-so arc, since it would buy them extra time. And also, to ask people to choose a single episode on its merits or suitability to the situation at hand.

But all the best episodes are two-parters (IMHO)!

:wah:

Ok, uh..... Death Wish.

Visitor from DS9 and I'll stop it before the last scene where sisko is brought back to life.

Or DS9 what you leave behind. Hoping that either my religion is correct and there's an afterlife or that Star trek is right and I get turned into a Worm Hole alien.

"Angel One"

... because I love Mistress Beata! She's my favourite TNG guest star. Very powerful and yet? She wore it well, having remained very beautiful and womanly. No Hilary Clinton is she. And Ramsey was cool. I like how he's living on the edge, you know? He knows what he wants. And his woman risked all, because she just wasn't going to give him up. That really spoke to me. He nicely demonstrated how no force around can keep a Good Man down. Even as fugitive, he didn't lose what mattered to him most. That's the kind of character that I like seeing in STAR TREK. So, definitely ... when The Grim Reaper comes to call, that's when I reach for "Angel One."

I have to ask myself what do I want? Big emotion, or better story? If the first, believe it or not I'll go for TOS The Immunity Syndrome--the interactions between all three of the Big Three are so good in this one, and that's what I would want to savor most I think from my last Trek, that special friendship of Spock, McCoy, and Kirk. If the second, I'd go for In the Pale Moonlight (and I can't believe I'm saying that, because I am not an Avery Brooks fan...but still...)

I think it would be the first, though.

The Outrageous Okona of course. After experiencing that particular episode again, death'd seem like a relief.

Well, with multi-parters and movies out that eliminates my favorite episode of any Star Trek series. The eliminated episode: DS9 season 4 premiere episode The Way Of The Warrior. So, now the question becomes: what would I pick in its place? Hmm... It'd either be TOS episode Devil In The Dark or as I call it "The Horta Episode" or TNG season 6 episode Relics (SCOTTY, anyone?) or Star Trek: Enterprise final episode These Are The Voyages. Which one? Hmm... Devil In The Dark-the episode I affectionately call "The Horta Episode". Who knows? Death might like the episode so much he takes someone else in my place.

Please take some time to review the rules for posting here, pinned at the top of this forum. Particularly, the one about resurrecting old threads. This one has been dead for over 7 years, let’s let it rest in peace.

Thanks
