Last Airbender 2 will be darker, M. Night Shyamalan says

Sheep, did you not read my post just above?
On a $150m budget its going to over the $100m mark come Sunday.

The haters only wish people would stop going.
If perceived quality also equaled box office take Twilight would've tanked.

I'm assuming that $150m number doesn't include things like promotional and advertising budgets which means the movie will have to rake in more than that to be successful.

The question remains: Does the movie have a long enough tail to get to $150m or more? There have been more movies than anyone can count that started off well and dropped sharply once the core fans saw it and no one else bothered.

The diehards have already chimmed in, hopefully cause they saw it. If not then it shows its getting attendance based on general audience interest.

The production budget never includes marketing costs. Those numbers are very seldom published for any movie. With tie-ins often times carrying some of the weight with cross promotion. Films like TLA don't always have crazy marketing budgets like you'd think.

It's legs will be known soon enough. It does have competition for the tween sets $$$ with Despicable Me opening though. That is an understood factor though.

Even if the current movie manages to make back it's money, I can't see the studio wanting to take a risk on M Night again. They'll almost certainly find another director for the next one.
