You might be thinking of "For Your Eyes Only", which was mainly an adaptation of the short story by the sam title, but also used a scene from the "Live and Let Die" novel.

A good-sized portion of For Your Eyes Only was lifted directly from Fleming's short story "Risico".

I do find it sad and strange to hear trek nerds accuse others of being basement dwelling incels, though, considering the history of Trek fandom as filled with misfits. I take it (thanks to JJ and Kurtzman) all current Trek fans are normies who were the cool-kids in school and therefore don't have any understanding or concern for nerd-dom?
