Spoilers Lanterns discussion thread

You're not understanding my question. You said Bernadette was trying to impress the Guardian. I'm asking you why you thought Bernadette was trying to impress the Guardian? What did Bernadette say to the Guardian that made you think Bernadette was trying to impress the Guardian?

It was the part where she first talked go the guardian. Remember? She thought John Sr. was lying than met the Guardian outside. That was the part she was trying to impress the guardian.

We're only 4 episodes in, but I'm starting to feel like people are going way too far with the speculation and the suspicion of ambiguity and are just setting themselves up for disappointment.

I think everyone is in "Lost" mode. Lol. Hopefully they don't go down that rabbit hole of dead ends. Lol. But so far its pretty clear to me what's going on.

An example of what I'm talking about with the out-of-control speculating: the show flat-out told us the identity of the Manhunter, and yet a large chunk of both of the Lanterns Podcasts I listened to today were still dedicated to theorizing about the identity of the Manhunter, thus setting their hosts up for disappointment when the show inevitably reaffirms that the Manhunter is exactly who it told us it was.

That's how discussion of ongoing shows work. Speculation is a regular occurrence, especially when there are mysteries involved. So what if people are setting themselves for disappointment? That's beside the point. Speculation is half the fun for discussions such as these.

Yeah. Everyone wants there to be a bigger mystery. Like Lost. Everyone is being told from the characters in the show that Hal is a piece of crap or didn't deserve the ring. But we can clearly see hes a hero and cares. Unless im reading things way off. LOL

There is a bigger mystery, but I think we definitively learned who the Manhunter is. We don't know its plan or its motivations, and we don't know about the people in the town. Like a good mystery we'll get answers piece by piece and every answer will create a new question. At least if the show lives up to its billing as a True Detective style (unless they mean TD Season 2 of course).

I think you've got Hal spot on. He plays the buffoon to leave people off their guard so they underestimate him. But in almost every episode we see that he's a couple of steps ahead of everyone else. He's the goddamned Green Lantern.

Exactly. I also think Hal is really the only one that John is ultimately going to trust. Hal tells John like it is. Hes not lying or manipulating John like his parents or the guardians have done. Hal is also obviously starting to like John. Hal will hopefully teach John to strengthen his will. Something I fear John's parents broke. We'll see. But yeah this series is good. I also hope Hal isn't really dead.

Hal's been clearly impressed with John since the second episode--but he's keeping John at a distance.
