Landing parties without Kirk?

While not a landing party, strictly speaking, Kirk wasn't aboard the Galileo in "The Galileo Seven."

"The Cage" and "The Slaver Weapon" were the only episodes of the pre-TNG era that Kirk wasn't in. Were there any episodes without Spock? I'm hard pressed to think of one.

I don't think so... IIRC, Spock is the only character to appear in every episode of TOS and TAS. (I guess it helps that he's the only character to carry over from first pilot to second pilot to series...)

The Paradise Syndrome, after the ship return to the planet a landing party beamed down. Kirk was already on the planet, and not a part of the party.

:).

Despite this thread managing to thoroughly unearth every last landing party that Kirk was not in, I wish we had seen more planet-based adventures with Spock (and others) leading survey crews planetside. Imagine if Kirk and Spock were switched in "That Which Survives". We might've escaped embarrassing lines like "Are there men on this planet?"

I hope that fan films listen in on this thread and come up with stories like "Metamorphosis", but with Spock or McCoy in charge of the landing party, and Kirk dealing with some other story on the ship. It would be interesting if a science team found rare organic compounds on a wild, uninhabited Class M world and the team had to cope on the surface while the Enterprise was diverted to rescue a derelict cargo vessel or something like that.
