I must be a monster that I want to devote myself to a woman and take pleasure in making her happy...I've seen the friends side of a relationship and being partners and I have been in that situation...it is freaking boring, I see people married for 20+ years and they are friends, they love each other...but they are without passion.

devoting yourself to a woman isn't by itself "passion" in fact, it reeks of an inferiority complex and desperation.

So be it!

Which is why you being single is something I can't quite wrap my mind around. ;)

That would be the nil social life.
I'm so busy taking care of my family, I don't have time for one.
One of my friends invited me to a bonfire tomorrow, with a few good friends, and I turned him down (much as I didn't want to) because I'm taking care of my niece tomorrow. So there is little exposure to me in social circles. I love to dance, and I've never been to a club. I don't drink but I'd sing Karaoke at a bar. Yet I've done none of that either.

It is common sense, which is exactly why the ladies don't respond to people like us. :( ;)

Ha! Kimc responded to me! :D

Although I do wonder sometimes why some women date guys who treat them poorly. It's just above and beyond my level of reasoning. Well, I have theories, but no way to test them, not like I would.

Well, to tell the truth, I do have some gentlemanly habits like opening doors and giving up my seat and so forth; but in general terms, I don't treat women any differently.

I treat my wife life a goddess but it is my experience most women want a guy who treats them like shit... makes no sense but it's often true. Notice how there is only one hit on choice for #3 in your poll... I'm sure if they were really honest #3 would have several hits. There are some thing women will never be honest about. Not all mind you.

Women do not want to be treated like shit. Women don't say to themselves "Hmmm...gonna go find a man who'll treat me like garbage!"

These women who seem to attract abusive men (and I'm not just talking physical abuse, but emotional and verbal) are usually suffering from low self-esteem, or have been abused themselves since childhood, and think this is how relationships are.

Some women accept this behaviour from men because they like what that man represents for them superficially--man is rich or powerful etc.

A real, healthy relationship is one created of an equal partnership. A partnership that is benificial to both parties.

This might explain why I haven't really found anyone yet (outside of the social life issue). I treat women like they're equal. If a woman has baggage that makes her self esteem low, she might think I'm too good to be true (no ego involved), and avoid me.

Mostly equal but acknowledging that it is okay for men& women to have different strengths & weaknesses...I admit that I love having the car door opened for me to get in and closed after I am settled...My husband doesn't open car doors for me, but my brother who is a decade older than me does do that! Today when the husband & I were clearing our yard, and I shamelessly let him do all of the heavy lifting.

I have never been comfortable around a guy who is relentlessly attentive, mercilessly romantic, or insists on making me something that I am not. I cannot conceive that a person's whole world needs to revolve around me.

As a warrior... I beat my man 317 - 276 in scrabble tonight. My house will be proud of me lol

I treat my women like a I treat my cars, drive em hard, buff out the scratches then put a nice coat of wax on.

Wait, I may have that backwards...
