Honestly, just because something is old enough to generate nostalgia doesn't mean it needs to be treated with reverence or sentiment. And is anybody really all that emotionally attached to the Banana Splits of all things?
If Monty Python can skewer Camelot and the New Testament, I think Syfy can get a sick joke out of the Banana Splits. "Iconic" properties are not off-limits to being twisted into crazy new configurations.
