LA Trekkies, Watch Star Trek IV with Leonard Nimoy on Saturday

...On the Paramount lot. I just moved to the area a couple weeks ago, so I'm still getting settled. I may head up to LA alone. Anyone else going?

Didn't they try something like this with Shatner and STV a few months ago but canceled it because only 4 and a half people bought tickets?

Perhaps Nimoy is more popular...

If I remember, the event with Shatner had zero promotion and was basically a marketing failure. people who lived nearby.....on this board.....hadn't even heard of it. When the hardcore fans haven't heard about a event like that in the town they live in, there is a problem.

That'd be fun. I've never even watched one of the movies with fellow fans, only reluctant friends and family. I wish I were in the area, I'd come watch with you!

As an update: I called today to confirm the event was on for Saturday. The woman I spoke to was super nice. When I asked if it was close to selling out, she chuckled and said "Not at all". Take that for what it's worth.

The only promotion I've seen for it was on an update by TrekMovie on Twitter. I thought maybe I was out of the loop, but the whole zero promotion theory seems to be holding true.

Regardless, I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope the event happens. If it ends up being me and 10 other people, that's fine; we can all just hang with Leonard for the night.

Aw, that would be so cool. Bummer that it sounds like they aren't selling many tickets.

The last time something like this happened it turned out that the audience got to see Star Trek (JJ's) instead of what they thought they were going to see.

I wish I lived in the States, because that's really not in my neck of the woods. I paid around £7 for an afternoon matinee to see Star Trek 2009. That's $12 to you and quite possibly the worst, badly focused and worn out screening I think I've ever seen.

So for $8 more (& a plane ticket), you get a much better film and Leonard Nimoy actually sitting two rows behind, continually tutting and shushing you for being too noisy.

Yeah - I really don't think $20 to watch Star Trek IV AT Paramount WITH Leonard Nimoy is bad at all.

I may have to make a day of it and hit the Exhibition at Hollywood & Highland beforehand.
