K'T'inga vs. 1701-Refit/1701-A prolonged battle?

We saw the first on screen appearance of the :klingon:Klingon K'T'inga in action in TMP. I was extremely impressed by it's updated look from the D-7 from TOS.

We saw the K'T'inga vs. 1701-Refit in the simulator in the WOK and the minimal encounter Kronos one K'T'inga vs. 1701-A in TUC.

What I really wanted to see in one of the Kirk era TOS films was a prolonged battle reminiscent of TOS"Balance Of Terror" but with a K'T'inga vs. 1701-Refit. We got a taste of what it might have been like with WOK Reliant vs. 1701-Refit.

Anyone else liked to have had a TOS film with a :klingon:Klingon K'T'inga vs. Kirk's 1701-Refit in a prolonged battle reminiscent of TOS"Balance Of Terror" ?

That would probably have been pretty boring - the secret of action scenes is that the audience quickly tires of them. TWOK gets it right, as there are actually only a couple of short scenes with the ships fighting each other, and at all times the focus is on the drama of the characters. Likewise TUC works nicely because there's only the climax with Chang taking shots at the Enterprise, always more focused on Kirk and Chang. The Bird of Prey seemed to be the movie Klingon ship of choice, not the older battlecruiser.

Nemesis is the perfect example of a bad space battle sequence. It goes on for ages, with ships spitting out hundreds of inconsequential weapons at each other. It's like an interminable computer game.

The space battle (calling it a "battle" is really a stretch given the one-sided nature of it) in TUC is one of my least favorite in the whole franchise. Horribly boring...everything felt like they were TRYING to build tension and weren't able to actually build it genuinely. Having Chang quote Shakespeare over the comm channels was also horrifically cheesy and pretentious.

The only thing worse than the TUC space battle is the INS battle in the Briar Patch.
