I didn't see this posted anywhere else. If it was... well nevermind then.

Here is the first image of KARR (Knight Auto-Cybernetic Roving Robot-Exoskeleton) from the new Knight Rider series. There is a video showcasing the VFX, and a little more of KARR here. Click on the REEL link.

The VFX look awesome, belonging more in a summer blockbuster film than a weekly TV series. I'm hoping that TPTB don't mess with KR history too much and directly tie nuKARR to the original in some way.

Crappy picture. The episode will be interesting and I sure hope the series gets retooled and not canceled.

They'll retool Knight Rider by having Michael moonlight as a PI who investigates cases often related to LA County's beaches. They'll call it Knight Rider Nights.

And when it fails, they'll retool it again so he investigates paranormal activity. :)

That is just crazy, how would that EVER make it to the screen? Next you are going to say the are doing a reboot on classic Trek!

Wasn't Knight Rider canceled? My DVR never got any more than 8 episodes on it. Never watched any of them either, actually.

Knight Rider is on its Winter Hiatus (as many shows go on this time of year) and will return early next year (when many shows return) in its retooled form.

That "KARR" picutre.

Looks like something Michael Bay pushed through his colon.

Wasn't KARR a em.. Car?

Yep, KARR was the prototype to KITT that didn't work out. Like Lore and Data. Though in both cases I wonder why the builders scrapped the whole thing when all that needed changing was the 'brain'.

Well, in Lore's case it's because Soong always planned to go back and "fix" his "son." He just never got around to it because he thought Lore was destroyed.

Regardless, I really hate this incarnation of KARR. His acronym doesn't even make sense, either stylistically (since he's a robot rather than a fucking car) or just from the stupid acronym itself. Auto-Cybernetic and Robot-Exoskeleton? The hell? Why did they even need to add "exoskeleton" there? Do robots normally only have an indoskeleton or something? Oy. They could have at least came up with a better one that didn't require ignoring extra words, like the Knight Anthropormorphic Roving Robot or something.

What's odd is that in KR:TOS it is suggested in the pilot (though I never bought it) that KITT was built into Michael's own Trans-Am and then KARR shows up and he's a Trans-Am too.

It's also strange that KARR was locked in this warehouse, apparently, switched on. And he never tried to break-out until the crooks broke in?

Alll very odd.

I will say that I very much liked KARR's first epiosde. He was less "villan" and more "misguided child", like when attacked a fast-food restaurant drive-up speaker because he couldn't detect any life-form really speaking to his passengers. There's a lot of "fun" in that episode as KARR develops into an "evil-like" character but I never got a sense of "evil" from him.

His second episode made him seem much more evil and it also seemed natural.

This show's KARR I dunno. I'm weary. It seems like he'll "just be" evil.

It sucks, cause I was under the impression this was going to be KARR KARR - as in the original series KARR resurfaces.

Which is double odd, because the new KARR's origin is exactly the same as the old KARR's origin. What the dear doctor did wrong with the original KARR it also did wrong with this new KARR. You'd think he'd learn his lesson.

Unless THAT monstrosity is actually supposed to be the original KARR, but the original in the orignal series never decided to go transformer on us. Which makes even less sense.

I recently watched Knight of the Phoenix, and while Michael states several times that KITT is his car, however Devon denies it saying that it only looks like his Trans-Am.

As I recall, the crooks turned on the power to the lab where KARR was being housed.

Agreed on the original KARR. In regard to the new one, the writers/producers have already decided to make KARR into an HK tank on wheels, so I can only hope that they can successfully tie the new to the old and not piss off fans that have fond memories of the Trans-Am KARR.

With that red-glowy thing on its "head" it looks like it transforms back into a Simon.

Perhaps it is a Simon. Imagine this. Some kid finds KARR's CPU several hours after Michael and KITT defeat their evil nemisis. The kid takes the CPU home to show his dad, mom, brother, whatever... Meanwhile KARR's CPU backup battery is quickly running out of juice. In a last ditch effort at self-preservation, KARR uploads itself into a nearby... wait for it... wait for it... Simon game!

Unfortunately for some bullshit reason, KARR cannot separate itself fully from the Simon, no matter how advanced it becomes. So the engineers, or whoever maintains KARR, incorporates the Simon into every new design.
