^ Actually my Ford Escape (I was tired of dealing with my Ram's continual problems and went with a Ford - but I hate the F-150) has that feature.

variable tint?
I know they make glass that can become opaque when subjected to current but I haven't heard of anything like variable tint or whatever it's called

just as an example the glass I'm thinking off was used in The Sum of All Fears in that military war room scene to make the windows of the room turn white

^ Yeah. During the day you can't see in it from outside (you can see out perfectly) but as the sun goes down the tint decreases.

oh duh I forgot about those :D
I assumed it was an on-command thing rather than light activated

Its was good, not great though. But the show is getting better and better I must say .
But why was that kids so ugly and annoying? Too bad KITT couldn't morph him into something better.

Wow, KITT has the A-Team ability to shoot 2000 rounds without hitting anyone. Did Mike just call that guy a douche? Nice.

When they said they were retooling the show to match the original more, they weren't kidding! This episode was right out of the 80's, and as much as I hate to knock the earlier eps, it's really what we needed to see up front.

Highlights for me:

  • Last week we had Evil Sheriff(tm). This week was Single Mom with Child(tm). Awesome.
  • No super fancy transformations for no reason whatsoever (though the F150 is debatable I admit). Each transformation served a purpose (truck to go off road, Attack Mode to go faster, classic Mustang to evade cops).
  • The classic Mustang was awesome.
  • The kid was surprsingly not terribly annoying. I really enjoyed seeing him try to make a deal with the drug dealer to get his mom freed.
  • I liked Mike's mention of his mom's death (another direct link to the February '08 movie).
  • Maria Menounos = Meow.
  • KITT's getting super snarky - about damn time.
  • Billy and Zoe served a purpose and actually helped further the plot. This is the way both of them should have been used from the get go.
  • In a super-obscure, non-intentional way, KITT's use of gatlings at the end reminded me of similar weapons on the car from Knight Rider 2010. :p
I know it's highly unlikely to return, but the last 3 entries have really made me want this show to survive more and more.

"douche" has been the show's insult de regueur. :shifty:

  • The kid was annoying
  • Cloe sending a woman to run when she can't tell she has a clear path to safety
  • Bad faking of SUV is driving itself and I can't control it
  • Lame DEA agent
  • Badass drug dealer seeks stolen shipment on his own?
:guffaw:

But, as I said, the changing modes doesn't make any sense.

What about looking like a truck gives KITT the ability to go off road?

What about looking like a street-rocket gives KITT the ability to go fast?

The classic 'Stang was cool and made sense -changed his apperance to evade the cops.

But KITT obviously has the speed, power, and torque to go off-road and go ultra-fast. Why does he need to change his apperance to do that?

the kid said in the home video that he was building an f-14 tomcat with variable wing geometry . . . it was obviously an f-15 by the looks of it . . .

Same here. I'm still a bit miffed at the lack of car stunts and car chases on this show, but at least KITT's got an actual personality now. And the interplay between him and Michael has vastly improved too.

It's just a shame everybody's too busy watching American Idol right now to notice the improvement.

Agreed. :techman: Seems I am laughing more and more at Mike's and KITT's personal interactions. Also KITT's fast growing sense of humor....:guffaw:

I totally get what you're saying. However, the show seems to use the plot device/conceit (call it what you will) that changing these modes facilitates different abilities such as "Attack Mode" having weaponry not available in the "normal" mode. Given that, his transformations served a purpose.

It's still very, very, silly that a car can "transform" into a truck (even changing the apperance and layout of the dashboard and interiror!)

It makes as much sense as Voyager needing to move its nacelles to go to warp.

"Erm... It makes them enviromentally more efficent! Yeah, that's it!"

KITT should power slide on to the stage when one of the contestants performs.

Or have bikini girl reenact this from "America's got talent"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3qGRP37DaA

:D

Considering the original KITT already had an "off road" mode, with larger tires and spikes for traction, a huge, elaborate transformation from car to truck does seem a bit... excessive. lol
