Voted excellent on this one. This type of scenario may be old but it was nicely done IMO. Got surprised by the Mike/KITT cover at the beginning :D Truth serum was a nice addition for some jokes. Some nice quotes too.

Torres: KITT, you tell me where they are or I'll remove all of your spark plugs.
KITT: I do not have spark plugs.

It looked like Mike put two contact lenses in the same eye when he was in the washroom.
I noticed that too and checked: you are correct ;)

I missed the first 10 minutes because I was expecting the show to get preempted for the debate. So to whoever said last week that it would, I offer a hearty "Go screw yourself." :)

Debate was a scheduled event. Why would it get pre-empted?

;)

My DVR failed me again tonight. I've obviously some conflicts that isn't allowing KR to get recorded.

And you gave me a :wtf: over having a VCR

Look again. The shot of the first lense insertion was a shot of Mike looking into the mirror. The second was just a straight shot at his face. Yep. They did it with mirrors and fooled both of you.

This ep was the best one yet, and here's why I think that:

Every character served a purpose tonight. No one overwhelmed Mike's presence as the lead. The techs did their thing back at base, Torres did his "I'm the boss" routine and Sarah served as both a romantic lead and the woman trying to save the man she loves using her scientific skills. Mike and KITT were undeniably the focus of the show, and I believe this was due in part to so much of the storyline revolving around Mike potentially dying. The "truth serum" bit was a smart way to draw out some great character moments, sad, romantic and funny.

Kudos for the spy gear being brought in. In an operation as "high tech" as the SCC, it makes total sense for them to have all sorts of spy gadgets. This was one of my favorite parts of the premiere episode, and it's great to see them use stuff that pays homage to "Mission Impossible" from the masks to the "voice faking" tape/circuit. There was plenty of misdirection used in this episode (loved the part where the assassin gets captured) which made it much more exciting than a straight out action piece.

The action was fantastic. I credit a lot of this to a lot more practical driving this week than we've seen previously. The chase through the parking lot was exciting because we knew Mike was on a time limit but also because it was real. The return of the grappling hook made the fanboy in me happy and we finally get acknowledgement that KITT is indeed still nanoskin enhanced. I'm glad Andron wrote the story as I'm sure he was making sure to emphasize little touches such as that, providing a more cohesive connection with the pilot movie.

Finally, I have to give major kudos to the VFX crew. Everything was taken up a notch in this episode. We finally get to see consistant impacts from the big gun hitting KITT, and I was thrilled. The extra blue "flame" effect really showed KITT was taking some hard impacts and the windshield cracking is both a great visual cue and a tension builder. The green screen driving was 10x better in this episode than all the previous episodes. The lighting of the green screened exteriors matched the interior of the car and they used lighting effects to match sunlight passing over the actor's faces to great effect. Awesomeness.

I was really thrilled with this episode and hope it continues going in this direction.

This was a MUCH better episode compared with last weeks. Sure, it had the usual, "he will die in 42 minutes and 15 seconds" cliche but the pacing was quicker, there was more action, and we didn't have to listen to Mike hedge about whether he was in a relationship or not.

Good news for KR reported in my TV ratings thread...

Knight Rider - 7.65 million & 2.3/7 (Series High)

Knight Rider scored its best total viewers score (excluding the TV Movie) and saw an increase of 1.02 million viewers and 0.1 in the demo

Oh. You're right, now that I look again, I can even see the shirt mirrored.

KR has founds it feet at last :techman:
Well I don't know if it has found it but to me, it's clearly one step closer :techman:

In Michigan, many of the cops have switched from Crown Vics to apparently cheaper Chargers and what not, so maybe they need to push those too.

The Charger is becoming more popular because, as you said, Dodge is giving police departments exceptional deals on them and they are easier to modify. The Charger will also outrun the Crown Victoria cruisers. My Uncle is the chief of police for our town and they have both (they were also given a deal for a 2009 Dodge Ram that they couldn't pass up).

Just like The Sarah Connor Chronicles I have become a product placement for Dodge. Go figure.

To my DVR's credit. It failed me only because I asked too much of it. It can only record two things at once. Not three.

;)

But the Charger is not a Ford product, thus the old school Crown Victorias. Remember, this is one long Ford commercial, with screeching rubber and boobies. It is terrible, but seriously, I look forward to each episode more than anything else on tv right now. :cardie:

Oh I know, I could see where my original comment was perhaps unclear but I meant Ford/KR needed to push the Crown Vics not the Chargers.
