Is it me or does anyone want to see good, intellegent and yes even altruistic Klingons with something to do other than scream and attack us.

Gorkon, ST VI. Been there, done that.

You've been attacked by Klingons? :)

He was attacked by Clingans. You know those Irish cops, Chief O'Hara couldn't keep his mitts off him.

Alternately: He was attacked by Klingers. Lebanese cross-dressers can get pretty rowdy.

Let's have swarthy, non-bumpyheaded ones with 60s hairstyles.

It's the equivalent of Coke Classic, after all. :)

who knows how they will appear if at all in the new film. While like the forehead klingons from the films, I found the klingons in the TNG+ series to be generally one dimensional and lacking in depth despite a crapload of backstory to them. Basically you can sum them up as a race of cartoon viking berserkers.

The one dimensionality on TNG+ aliens is a common problem I had with the shows - there were good attempts at depth with the bajorans but they are too human-like to really make good 'aliens'.

I agree for the most part with your comments. I think I'd much prefer not to see the Klingons at all in the movie, given how overused they've been.

I want svelte klingons.

I want renegade klingons.

I want romantic klingons.

i want blues singing klingons.

i want klingons who cannot be prised off.

If only!
IMO The ironic thing about them was that they seemed far more interesting when we didn't know that much about them. Compare the portrayals of them in ST6 versus the ever snarling and grumbling race of TNG+...

In general, I agree.

If I had to see Klingons again, I'd much rather see the Klingons from Ford's The Final Reflection.

If they are used I want a story that explains them better, as in an alternate version of Humanity or a long lost tribe. In STI They didn't really have a role except protecting their space.

If we see Klingons again, they must be a bunch of evil fuckers.

Klingons in TOS were sadicious and cruel. TNG era Klingons were blundering drunkered thugs. No sense of danger whatsoever.

If they come back they must be a bunch of real fucking nasty bastards. Got to pose a threat.

As long as the entire race is not depicted to be that way - otherwise we'd be right back at the one-dimensional alien problem.

But not nearly often enough. Or do you want a 3,745th appearance of the violent, angry, honor-bound warrior Klingons who live for battle? ;) :p

It's not irrational to suggest having Klingons (although too late in Star Trek (2008)) in the next film to follow. :klingon:

Clearly there are some diplomatic efforts going on in the time before the Organians have to step in. It wouldn't be unreasonable to find a 25-years-younger JAG-equivalent Lieutenant (than as a Colonel in ST VI) Worf interacting in some way with Kirk and Spock. That would actually make some sense as to why Colonel Worf would later represent Kirk and McCoy. Plus, it would be interesting to have Michael Dorn appear as a TOS-era Klingon without the bumps. It wouldn't be conflicting to have Worf there.

Having a Thought-Admiral Krenn around too.... and an Earth ambassador named Ford, of course... now that would be awesome.

Unfortunately, as much as one could imagine James Callis in the role of a Lieutenant Kor, it wouldn't make sense for him not to recognize Kirk and Spock then on Organia. That would be hilarious casting though.

Perhaps even cast a younger Kang and Mara. They were honorable; and the DotD creature easily could have made them think they'd never met Kirk and Spock, and vice versa, before.

In any case, it was David Gerrold who did say "add a touch of Klingon, and then you've got a better story."

And it was a 13 year old, who quoth: "what do toilet paper and the Starship Enterprise have in common?" :p
