Klingons- Baddies or Goodies?

If they're in the upcoming film, I'd want them to be a mix, or to be specific, I want them to be a people with their own motivations that means that some of them could be willing to ally with our heroes, or some of them will lock horns with them.

Baddies of course, the Klingons just make for more compelling villains. When Klingons were the villains, they were a force to be reckoned with.

I think just the question itself shows how no one wants a one dimensional villain. Because they are always best when they are varying shades of bad/neutral.

Neither. I prefer to think of them as three-dimensional people with their own ambitions, some of which conflict with the Federation's and some of which align. I like stories that force people into conflict with one another over legitimate issues, and not just over simplistic stuff like "Arr, we want blow hew-mon's planet up! Oog oog!". That doesn't come across any better with "sophisticated" villains like the Romulans, either.

I think they should base NuKlingons on George Bush's foreign policy placing them at odds with the Federation policy of non-interference and leave viewers to decide who is good and who is bad...

That's sounds like a great way of examining an issue that I think the Federation sometimes goes too far with.

This is one thing I don't think they should change. Klingons should be the same Klingons we're used to. The point of divergence at 2233 doesn't change them THAT much, after all.

And as I said, I like Klingons best when they are the good guys. Ever since TNG, they have been the Federation's best allies, and I like them that way. Perhaps the Abramsverse can give that a head start, as it were. Federation and Klingon, uniting against the common Romulan threat.

Oh, and they should stick with the divergence in Klingon appearances - use both hemQuch (the 'real' Klingon appearance) and QuchHa' (the human-looking TOS version) together.

the STXI kobayashi maru simulation featured Klingon ships which suggests the klingons had been adversaries previously.

Bad...and no bumpy foreheads or overacting anymore. I used to like the long-haired devil look--until the Klingons started looking like members of KISS...

I like that I idea.

The point of divergence in 2233 may not have changed them that much, but I bet the destruction of a fleet of 47 Klingon Battlecruisers might.
