Klingons after Kirk

Nick086

So why were the Klingons really after Jim Kirk? To me, it seems like Commander Kruge was more an outlaw then a professional military officer. He wanted to establish his own little Klingon homeworld on the genesis planet. Shouldn't it be the Federation after the Klingon Empire for destroying USS Grissom? Trying to set claims on the planet when it wasn't clearly in Klingon space.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Kirk had been foiling their devious plans for years. He was patroling their border for at least two and a half years, damaged a lot of their ships, completely destroyed one or more D7 cruisers.

When they finally did get their hands on him, pay backs a bitch.

Nerys, Garth, sbk, Lead, you guys made me chuckle. Thank you.

Jarod, wonderful signature.

Nick, Kruge wasn't an outlaw. He maybe took personal initiative in the Genesis matter, but that doesn't mean his actions weren't agreeable to the Empire. And for all we know Imperial Intelligence discovered Carol Marcus's project and sent him to investigate.

Very true, I always consider Klingons to be big dumb bulky aliens with no sense in science or technology since they consider themselves as a warrior race like the Spartans did in Greece on Earth. From what I heard they were going to use the Romulans as the bad guys in this movie.

It may have been they were just seizing an opportunity here, given that Kirk was an outlaw to the Federation also, having stolen the Excelsior and all that. So they say everything that went on was his fault, including their having to destroy the Grissom in self-defense. Kirk also oversaw the Genesis project that the Klingons say is a new WMD that threatens interstellar peace, but really they're just pissed their scientists didn't come up with it first - which they would actually use as a WMD as well as an Instrument of Mass Creation.

I don't think they were just pissed at Kirk's being the bane of their existence during TOS. I'm sure plenty of other captains on both sides had their victorious missions over the other side.

They weren't initially -- Kruge only recognized James T. Kirk from the Genesis report, understood he was an admiral, and assumed he commanded whatever group of military pawns that had created the "weapon" Kruge wanted. That Kirk showed up reinforced his assumption about what the Federation was actually clandisinely doing under the guise of a scientific project. Kruge seemed wholly unaware of how damaged the Enterprise was when he tried to ambush it.

Later, after Kirk is victorious, the Klingon ambassador tried to spin the embarrassing and also potentially destructive situation politically to make it seem like this so-called Federation conspiracy led by "renegade" Kirk was the real problem -- if that seems absurd, just think about Fox News or Rush Limbaugh and his clones and their paranoia, hypocrisy, double talk, character assassination, and insane conspiracy playbooks. Obama is their Kirk.

So Robau takes after the Don Draper school of romancing...
