Klingon year question based on Watching the Clock

Talking with a few others about what we know about the Klingon calendar and I noticed a bit of a contradiction.

In Soldiers of the Empire, which is in the later 1/4 of 2374, Worf says its the 53rd day of the Klingon year. But I noticed in the Klingon calendar @Christopher worked up for Watching the Clock, and which he aligned with the various Klingon year dates we've gotten from many other Trek books and comics, the Klingon year starts in April that year.

Is this a data point you forgot about when putting this calendar together Christopher, or am I misunderstanding something?

I explained all the data points I used in the link. It's always been problematical trying to reconcile onscreen dates, since they just made that crap up at random.

My main issue with the Klingon calendar is that earlier writers had assumed that a Klingon year was exactly the same length as an Earth year, to the day. That's a pretty huge coincidence.

Looking closer at your notes, I guess the issue was trying to stay consistant with the Martin/Mangels dates given, which ended up not aligning with the Soldiers of the Empire date.

Though that Soldiers of the Empire date isn't really consistant with this whole calendar scheme anyway, as it seems to be more along the lines of 'the 32nd day of 2017" than just saying "February 1st."

Interestingly the Soldiers of the Empire date lines up pretty good with the Klingon date given in A Singular Destiny which is also given in that "such and such day of the Year of Kahless blank", and also seems to line up well with an idea from that original fan made Klingon calender you based yours on, but which you must not have been able to make fit. It had a part about the Klingon Year starting on the Festival of Kot'Bovol, shown in the episode "Firstborn".

Perhaps we could hypothesize a seperate system of dating used by the Klingon military which counts total days of the year, and which starts on a different day of the calender than the other date keeping system.

I may work up some kind of theory for reconciling all this and put it on my website. If I could figure out the coding, it would be cool to have a Klingon date calculator similar to the one for stardates that someone has online somewhere.
