Klingon DX-class First Generation X-Cruiser

Hey guys. My next ship for the cover of Starfleet Battles module X1R. The story behind this ship is basically the same as my Vincennes-class. ADB can't use the K'tinga, so this is basically an alternate version of it. Much like my Vincennes, I plan on adding my own versions of many of the details on this ship. Parts like the warp engines and the impulse/hangar deck will be completely revised. Plus, I don't want the entire model to be as overly-greebled as the K'tinga. The finished product is going to be a bit more streamlined and sleek overall. Anyway, here are the early beginnings of my work:

Let me know what you guys think so far.

Looks like a good start Icy_Penguigo, just like your Vincennes class, you can see the evolution of the original design, in this case the D7. In a way I'm glad ADB doesn't have the rights to the motion picture era designs, it gives leeway to create something new for the Trek multiverse.

Amazing. I especially like the triple disruptor cannons on the ventral command section, and the forward torpedo tube. Well done - looking forward to more.

I'm curious as to whether or not you'll include any nacelle-mounted weaponry, as was shown in TOS.

Actually In SFB those are Phasers Disrupters would be on the front ends
of the Warp engines Great work Icy :techman:

Me likey! I find the command area up top to be an excellent alteration to the design. And yes, the triple disruptors are a nice touch as well.

Th DX has a small boom warp engine -- how are you accounting for that?

I figure it's mostly internal. The C7 has one too, which is partially visible on the underside of the boom. Since this ship is siginificantly more advanced, I think it isn't a huge stretch of the imagination to think that there's a tiny warp engine stuffed inside there somewhere. I considered making it visible, a la the C7, but I think it would look better without it sticking out, and there's nothing I know of that contradicts that currently.

If it isn't the torpedo tube, maybe it's the drone launch tube? The TAS D-7's had torpedoes firing out of that same tube, as did the ones from TOS-Remastered.
I didn't quite care for the fact that drones launched from the hangar deck area on these.

Actually, on SFB Klingons, that tube is the main sensor/nav deflector. The drones are going to have their own seperate launch ports on this particular ship outside the hangar bay.

Sexy, though I'd reduce the number of vanes on the impulse deck, just by a handful. And are those...drone racks on the side of it? ;)

I actually like your command deck better than the K'T'Inga's.

Awesome.

However, are you trying to note how the model may turn out, in terms of how well it can translate into a mini?

I hear that the Vincennes didn't quite work out in that regard - and I bet that there will be people who will want to by a fig based on this ship!

Nerroth-- I haven't really been thinking about that, I'm just trying to make a cool design. If that comes to pass, I'll make alterations to the model to make it 3D printing-friendly. And as fa as I know, the Vincennes will work(again, not without modifications), SVC is still just trying to find the service for the price he wants.

Anyway, update! The rear hull is basically done. All I have left to model is the warp engines:

My first thought was the new nacelles look very Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers-esque. (Not that that's a bad thing!)
