Klingon Cloaking Device? (deleted scene spoiler)

F. King Daniel

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
I had a quick read of http://www.tnmc.org/The-Blog/star-trek-what-you-missed.html which gives a description of deleted scenes from the film (based on the script, so things might have been filmed differently). It includes the Klingon takeover of the Nerada, and says “While the Narada is trying to recover from being rammed by the Kelvin, bunches of Klingon warbirds decloak and surround it”

Let me pre-empt the lot of you and whinge:

“But the Klingons didn’t have cloaking devices until Star Trek III! This is all wrong! Canon Violation!!!!”

Ha! I said it first!

Not that it bothers me at all – I just hope all the fx (and music) were done for the scenes so I get to see those classic Klingon Battle Cruisers one last time ;-)

Unless J.J. does an Exorcist and turns his head around 180 degrees, deleted scenes will not appear in the movie. So it doesn't matter what happens in them, canon-wise.

^I was bieng sarcastic about the canon thing.
You do know Trek 'canon' is just for licensing, right? It's not some holy scipture.

As we all know, Captain Robau is not "people." And the less said about even bringing that up, the better for you, mister.

In any case I thought the Klingons already had cloaking devices before hand, since the alliance between the Romulans and Kligons in TOS already included a technological trade of Klingon ship design for Romulan cloaking device. Star Trek III was just the first appearance of the Bird of Prey, famous for using said device.
