Klingon City Project

KRONOS WIP 001

In my mind's eye I can see a Klingon city full of life with animated vessels and lights, a scene in motion from a fixed camera. This is a quick start of a large project, let's see how this goes...

No buildings yet just som quick structures.
I have search for "vegetation on kronos" but there's little to be found, maby pine trees ?

Adjusting composition
Building mountains, adding a few structures

Starting some detail work,
making some trees... they have trees on Kronos?
Maby I'll make some crazy alien-trees...

Thank you=) we will see how this pan out. Really it's just about putting
pieces together, I have the luxury to adjust weather conditions and light etc with "a turn of a nob" but I'm glad you like it so far.

Yes! For some reason I really liked the rain in the first pic. Incidentally I found DISC's depiction of Kronos (I don't care how they spelled it) to be one of the only cool things in the final two episodes; not sure if you're drawing any inspiration from that and I don't really recall if there were any outdoor (non-marketplace) scenes anyway.

Actually, I never did get passed the last few episodes of discovery....maby I should then, just to look at the Klingon world.
I googled kronos for inspirational pictures and found these two that I'm clearly using:-)

Also I found this old thread right here at trekbbs that have ship-designs etc that I'm planing on using for an animated sky later on.

And yes, I like the rain too, kinda suits a Klingon skyline =)

Ah, right, there were plenty of establishing shots from various TNG Klingon eps (never my favorites). Maybe from "Broken Bow" too. Definitely as to the rain! It's perfect!

The transforming Klingon are not from this scene but I did get the idea of start building a large Klingon city when i dabbled with the art challenge.
I remembered a concept track i made a year ago or so where I did have the start of this background, so it was easy to pick it up and start building.
Actually, your challenge idea pushed me into a creative zone so thanks for that=)

Just playing around this weekend to keep myself interested

So it's not an official building...
It's a Klingon mining company on a distant moon way away from the home planet

Oh, I see! Those spiky things that I thought was the tail end of your transforming Klingon shuttle are the spiky things on top of the "not an official building" - We were looking at the city from the top of the structure.
These images and your concept are fascinating (to coin a phrase). The flybys (low quality as they may be), especially so.

Ah, yes... now I see how the spiky things could have been the shuttle!
Working on two areas now, Kronos8 - the Mine & Kronos8 - whomping woods.
I just having fun here, cool to have a bigger project to engage in.
Again, moving stuff around and putting pieces together in a game-editor is hardly art,
but a very quick and rewarding way of knocking out some concepts

At the Klingon Dilithium Crystal Mining Company ...
Mining equipment on Kronos 8 are a little different from what we are used to on earth in 21st century

These things are called S.U.C.K.E.R.S

Self-directing
Unearthed
Cha'pujqut*
Klingon
Excavator
Recourse
System

*cha'pujqut(n) dilithium crystal (elemental crystal used to generate power)

They scoop down like seagulls after fish, sniffing out the Dilithium Crystals
and unveils them for the workers to recover.
Eventually an animation for this will be done...

(Also, there are probably a bored-out-of-his-mind Klingon
somewhere working maintenance on these things as they brake down a lot.
I need to make a maintenance-facility for this.)
