Kirk's Last Message

Spock's Barber

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Kirk's final message to Spock and McCoy in The Tholian Web was good, but I thought it was kind of businesslike and bland. Spice it up a little.....

Kirk : "Spock, remember those 10 Quatloos you owe me? Give them to McCoy so he can buy some more Saurian Brandy. Bones, the next time Spock gives you trouble, just bitch slap him. Come and see me some time in interspace. The women of the Defiant are awesome! Bye, bye."

Wait, hang on! I've got it!
"The women of the Defiant are awesome. You can see right through them!"
*insert smiling husky meme here*

I always hated the fact that they made it 100% obvious that he filmed it at the same time he filmed the rest of the episode.
Couldn't even slap the "velour" season 1-2 shirt on him to make it seem a few months old.

I agree! The velour uniform would have worked, especially the early version from "Corbomite."

Even better: the Year 1 version of the green wraparound tunic, with gold braid over the collar bones. That would really sell it as an older video, and he's giving the exact advice you'd expect after seeing Spock and McCoy clash in "The Enemy Within," where he wore it first.

I wonder if CBS Digital could have put him in the green wraparound, and made his haircut look shorter to match those early days.

Another idea: suppose Kirk's Doughboy Duplicate from "What are Little Girls Made Of?" had surreptitiously recorded a new version of the last orders and left it in the safe, unknown to the real Kirk. And the imposter's orders were all geared to implement Dr. Corby's now-impossible plan for android conquest.

Spock: "This isn't even him. It's that android from--"
McCoy: "Yep."

Right, he did not wear the wraparound at all during the third season. So if he had worn it during the taped message -- it would trigger something in the back of ours minds that would think -- "old" -- even if we couldn't put our finger on it.

What would have been cool is putting a body double for Rand in it (as a will requires a witness) and after he finished have her walk across the screen and turn off the tape.
"Thank you, yeoman"

As a kid I would have had my mind officially blown.
