Kirk poll (just for fun)

Stardate

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Well, it seems we have rumor that Abrams has found a front runner for Kirk and his name is Mike Vogel(28). He seems good choice thou i have notice, he hasn't got high approval rating as f.e. Zack Quinto as Spock. So I have been looking at alternative actors for Kirk. I have been checking on this site and other ST related sites. What i have notice that many fans has named Eion Bailey(31) and Jensen Ackles(29) as candidate for Kirk, both good choices.
So for fun until another rumors comes along. I want make pool. Who do you want so see out of those 3 actors to be cast as Kirk in XI movie.
I am ruling out Matt Damon(37)and Matt Wallberg(36) as candidate for Kirk in this poll, They are either too old or too short(Wallberg is 5,7).

Re: Kirk pool (just for fun)

I actually think Eion Bailey would make a good candidate, though he might be a little too old, depending on story demands that is. Jensen Ackles after that. Vogel... not so much.

Re: Kirk pool (just for fun)

Don't you mean Kirk 'Poll', rather than 'Pool'?

I voted to bathe, er cast, Mike Vogel, btw.

Re: Kirk pool (just for fun)

Eion Bailey is an interesting choice, although if he actually were cast as Kirk you'd probably hear a lot of the same objections that were made when Daniel Craig was cast as James Bond, only in reverse--Eion Bailey is a dark-haired brunette, but Shatner's Kirk was sandy blond.

I don't really like any of those choices...

Neither am I. Of the three, I've only seen one act, and Bailey ain't great. In particular, I don't see him being able to project the command presence that any Kirk must have.

Re: Kirk pool (just for fun)

Bailey's the best I've seen. What are the better choices?

PS, Bailey is three years older than Vogel. Not a huge difference. Bailey seems older, tho, and that's one reason I like him. He's 31 but nobody will mistake him for some kind of Tiger Beat refugee, which seems to happen even to guys like Vogel who are closer to 30 than 20. Someone will propose a guy to play Kirk and everyone will start in on the Star Trek 90210 thing and it'll turn out he's like 28.

Heh, I noticed the dark hair too, but I figured he could be "lightened" for the role. And considering the dark that took over Shatner as he matured (T.J. Hooker anyone?) I figured it wouldn't be that big a stretch. The main features I like about Bailey are his eyes; the shape not the color (Bailey's eyes are deep blue, but Shatner's are more hazely-brown, also easily rectified.) His eyes and other similar facial structures just seem the closest I've seen of the fantasy hopefuls fans have been entertaining these past few months.

Don't you mean 'fuck OFF wanker'?

Glad to see that sense of humour by-pass was a complete success. Here's hoping that the English language classes are equally successful.

Re: Kirk pool (just for fun)

Well, some women report that a can of "Fuck of Wanker" will please many a convention-going Trekkie girl.

Really Captaindemotion haven't you nothing else to do then this. Sure my first language isn't engish and i can make spelling error. However so are many others on this site that also does spelling error or their english isn't their mother tongue. Difference between me and you is that, i don't correct them and insult them at the same time. If i stumbled on spelling error from another user i would either figure out for myself what he/she meant, if that isn't the case i would ignored it or sent him/her polite advice.
This is second time in short time another user insult me for being foreigner trying to communicate on this this board with my fellow Star Trek fans so this will be my last topic starter and i think its best for me to remove myself from this site.

Pomposity and illiteracy are such a wonderful combination.

I pointed out your mistake in the thread title and then made a light hearted pun or play on words in my reply. You responded by calling me a wanker and telling me to 'fuck of [sic]'. What a positive contribution that was!

If you remove yourself from this site, well, with an attitude like that I'm sure I won't be the only one to think 'no loss.'

 Man, don't get at each others throats! I think this is just a big misunderstanding. English isn't my mother tongue either so I know how damn hard it sometimes can be to understand what another poster wants to say -- especially when it comes to colloquial speech or jokes. And it's even harder to make yourself understood. So, Vejur, don't leave! I for one would miss another fellow foreign trekkie. ;) And to Captaindemotion: Please calm down. I'm sure Vejur did not want to insult you.

I voted Vogel because he has a resemblance to the Shat. Once he's made up Kirk-style and wearing the mustard garb that should help complete the illusion of Classic Kirk reborn.

That was absolutely unnecessary.

Vejur, next time, don't tell someone to f*** off no matter what they say to you.

No warnings this time- but for crying out loud, don't snipe at each other like that. Remember that there are a lot of non-English speakers on this board.

I would like to point out that I don't make a point of reading people's profiles before posting a reply on the boards and therefore had no idea what Vejur's language was. I pointed out what I considered to be a spelling error (what some would call 'a schoolboy howler') in the title of the thread, then made a mild joke about it in my reply (pool - bathe). Don't forget that I actually did give a reply to the topic - it wasn't like I simply posted a reply to snipe at the poster. If I'd really wanted to be a wanker, I could have listed all the grammatical and spelling errors in the original post, but I didn't. I can't see why anyone would take offence at the reply I gave.

As far as I'm concerned, Vejur's response was grossly disproportionate in any language and totally lacking in any sense of humour. My own response to that was quite measured in the circumstances (I deliberately took 5 minutes before posting).

If someone feels the need to start shouting obscenities and insults at everyone who gently mocks them on the internet, you really do have to wonder about their suitability to deal with the cut & thrust of this or any BBS in any language. God knows, what I wrote wouldn't even raise an eyebrow on the Neutral Zone or even the General Sci-Fi Board.
