Kirk Knows EVERYTHING

Though, I suppose it could still take nuScott some years to recreate the work and fully understand it all. He did have Spock's assistance in rigging that transporter. I can imagine Spock then dismantled the setup and erased the formula before leaving.)

No I'm pretty sure Scotty used the formula to get Kirk and Spock to the Narada.

I believe the Kirk-Spock to the Narada was good old fashioned beaming, not the transwarp one.

Spock shared just enough information with Kirk so he could avoid all the threats that originate in really bad episodes. But he didn't let Kirk know about any of the cool stuff that would look really awesome in a future movie.

Toruika, did you see TWoK last night? It was on one of the movie channels; I just caught the tail-end of that.

Jeri, i'm suffering with a gawd awful cold, and for me there is no better medicine than to get on the couch and watch old Trek. So last night i put TWOK on...this was the first time i watched it since seeing the new movie. For the very first time (and understand, i have seen this at least a dozen times), i sobbed my brains out!

What an incredible movie. I mean, it had EVERYTHING!

For some reason, seeing the new movie altered my perception of this classic. How wonderful is that?

trekgirl, I hope you are feeling better! The movie sure gave you something to take your mind off your cold, didn't it.

It was the oddest thing, but when I flipped the channel on, the movie was at that exact point where Kirk was eating the apple! It was quite a coincidence.

The nuScotty already had most of the equation settled up ... he just couldn't figure out some aspects that created his mental blockage to begin with.
Once he saw Spock's formula, he knew what he was missing and now he'd be able to re-create the thing without Spock's assistance.

Although to be frank ... there is 0 evidence that Spock would erase or dismantle the original setup.
In fact, with the future of the Federation changed to a great extent and to him having no way back to where he'd come from (he might as well could have come to the conclusion the old timeline is gone ... permanently ... which is still possible), I'd be surprised if he does anything to 'protect the timeline' that was already changed so drastically to begin with.
