Kira and Dukat

Hard to feel lovey toward a religious icon.

Thinking about the men on the station, though, in some ways Kira and Worf could have been a good match. Powerful, does a good job living by his code of honor, not afraid of a fight, respects Bajor, didn't murder millions of Bajorans...

If Dukat were actually the guy she had some relaxed conversations with, where sometimes they related as professionals and companions in adversity, maybe. I mean, they'd have little moments and then Kira would remember who she was dealing with, and feel internal disgust with herself for that laugh she just had with him, I'm sure, or some flash of attraction that is just some passing irrational visceral thing.

For a split second here or there, I'm sure, then she beats herself up for even that much.

This is an unpleasant and disturbing direction for us to go into.

Indeed. Arguably, the men she fell in love with had auras of quiet strength. They had strong opinions, but they were often humble about their power and authority. Kira was unlikely to respect someone who tried to control her or who were controlling in general.

And when Dukat told her he had slept with her mom, whatever teeny tiny attraction she may have had went bye-bye.
I’m reminded of Slughorn telling Harry that he’d taught all of the Black children except for Sirius: “I’d have liked the set.”:barf:

With a touch of lilac.

There was no way Nana would allow Kira to feel any attraction in her interpretation. Kira viewed Dukat as being like Hitler according to her.

Makes Dukat's interest in her even more creepy. Classic stepfather going after sexy stepdaughter... :barf::barf::barf:

The only ambiguity was in the writers room. Visitor played none, and the character viewed the man as Hitler to her Jew. There was no attraction there, regardless what the delusional megalomaniac thought (i.e. that he and Siskin were friends).

The idea that out of the billions of Bajorans on the planet(s), Dukat even ever saw in his lifetime (let alone spoke with, knew, or slept with) Kira’s mom is so outlandish as to be, for the most part, only the stuff of fiction.

Edit: also, being attracted to “powerful men” does not mean all powerful men, even if they’re decent, handsome, available, etc.

Don’t forget Kira’s orb experience, where she saw her mother and Dukat together

No. This was discussed by NV, herself. She likened Dukat to Hitler for Kira and said that she intentionally played Kira in a way that she was never attracted to him.

Is there proof of this?
I can't seem to find the video where this is specifically brought up. (I thought it was a Parsippany convention, solo appearance, but I can't find the full session anymore.)

However, there are many places where she says (1) she was actually physically revolted by Dukat (not Alaimo) and (2) she insisted that Kira not be paired with Dukat (and they got back at her by pairing her with Odo).

He is such a creep by season 6. At the height of his power, he is at his lowest.

I liked him better after he became demon possessed.

But it seems like that would be up to the writers or director.
She never acted attracted to Sisko or Quark or Garet, or Morn or Worf.
That's what her role called for. So I guess you could say it's intentional. However if it had been scripted differently, she would have done it differently.

Never viewed it as such. I think at best the character Kira recognised that in some instances, Dukat had a (devilish, dangerous) charm about him but personally she wanted nothing to do with that, she just kept her distance in those cases.

And, in just a very few episodes, the Dukat character is played as if he is actually redeemable, and it seems Kira wants to give him that second chance to redeem himself.

But nothing beyond that.
