Kinetic Projectile options used to defeat Borg Drones?

Then again, with AG, you could build a projectile weapon without the utterly superfluous projectile. Just directly deliver the impact itself!

Probably Trek has some unvoiced limits on how to abuse AG. But defensively, Trek combatants have always been remarkably capable of shrugging off purely kinetic effects, and mastery of inertia is a likely culprit there. And Trek is all about unnatural asymmetry: ships stop far more easily than they start, heat management works counterintuitively, blocking of forces is easier than creating of them... Perhaps AG guns are difficult to build but AG-based protection is more or less trivial.

Just being able to send a projectile past walls with a tiny transporter and have it rigged with Anti-Matter explosive payload is enough to make it REALLY worth while as Long Range Anti-Material sniper.

a projectile ... with a tiny transporter
Why not just beam something directly in to the body of your target? Beam a sphere of air the size of your fist into their heart or brain, as opposed to beaming a moving projectile into the room that then has to travel to the target.

Combining the transporter to the rifle was never an effort to create a more powerful weapon, not per any of the comments of our heroes anyway. Rather, it was a sharks-with-lasers moment of utter lunacy from an utter lunatic, created to confound the investigators and to strike terror in the hearts of the victims. So we shouldn't explore that particular combination too harshly in terms of practicability. Either half is apparently a viable weapon on its own, and diminished through the combining.

Why doesn't Starfleet kill its enemies with that tiny transporter alone, then? Well, transporters are rather trivially blocked by shields, or then jammed by things ranging from exotic ores to high winds. To truly weaponize a transporter, one would have strip the niceties and ramp up the power - so one probably would end up building a phaser: an extreme make-disappear device relying on the same phasing technology as the transporter but not sweating rematerialization much.

Once one gets this weaponized transporter, one can then deliver any degree of kinetic impact one desires (without having to worry about recoil, either!). VOY had the heroes use their phasers to deliver nanoprobes and like objects and substances, rather neatly suggesting these indeed are weaponized transporter beams. ST3:TSfS had Kirk deliver massive kinetic impact on a Klingon henchman down on Genesis Planet, with zero recoil. Combine the two and you can make your Phaser Two spit leaden death at the enemy. Only you probably don't want to, because the death without the lead is the more economical and effective way to go.

In my separate un-orthodox weapons list, a De-Materializer pistol is part of that list. But having to deal with shields / transporter scrambling / jamming is a issue.

Ergo it's use is a special circumstance only tool.
