Kindle Questions

I've had some success converting PDFs to other formats with Calibre.

For those who haven't used it, it does conversions for a pretty good range of eReaders, not just the Kindle. It's pretty useful.

It is.

Can PDFs reflow text like .mobi and .epub? The ones I tried couldn't.

So, which ebook reader is the best if you just have a bunch of PDFs and plain text (.txt) files you want to read on the go? I'm not particularly interested in buying DRMed ebooks from Amazon or whoever.

Forget PDFs. They suck.

 Yeah, that's a great answer to my question. I truly appreciate it.

For ebook readers PDFs suck since the display area is mostly too small to display the text properly (you have to zoom in and out and scroll from side to side - unless PDFs can reflow the text [which I haven't seen yet]).
For reading PDFs I'd say that the Kindle DX is the best (large display). But it's a bit too expensive just to read PDFs.

That's a much better answer. Thank you. I was not aware of the text reflow problems with PDFs, though I guess it makes sense since PDFs specify the exact layout of all text.

I'd suggest you go to http://www.mobileread.com/ for much better information.
