Does anybody know of any contemporary sci-fi or fantasy books where horses play a significant role? I'm hoping for something that treats more like characters, or at least does with them than just saying the characters rode the horses from this place to that place.
I've mentioned before that horses are a big part of my urban fantasy story I've been working, and I was kind of curious to see how other people have written them in similar stories. So far, the closest I've come across is Shannon Mayer's Desert Cursed series, but that's more of an alternate world, maybe post-apocalyptic, kind of thing.
