Killzone 3

The public beta for KZ3 goes live on October 25th, but I figured rather than just have a thread for that, I may as well do an all-purpose one seeing as we'll probably be getting more news and info over the coming months.

Anyway, as far as the beta goes, it seems you have to be a Playstation Plus subscriber to start off. You then have to be one of the first 10,000 (5,000 US & 5,000 EU) to download the exclusive KZ3 theme off the store on October 19th. Then it's just a case of checking your mailbox for an invite code if you're successful.

The SP demo is now available on PSN for all PS+ subscribers. The demo will be available to everyone else next week.

Also, for those who don't already know, the MP Beta is open and available for anyone to d/l from PSN.

Can't wait to get stuck into this demo. It downloaded pretty fast but is taking ages to install.

My PS3 downloaded it by itself... though I do have the "automatically download updates" turned on.

I don't have automatic updates/downloads turned on. I like my PS3 to run stuff by me first, before it downloads and installs something.

I've had it disabled ever since I joined PS+. I'd just rather that I get to tell my PS3 what I want to download, instead of it telling me what I want to download.

On the subject of the demo; I really enjoyed playing it. It looks absolutely fantastic, and the controls are a bit more user friendly. Having said that, I'd prefer to be able to fully customise the controls, and I'm hoping you can in the full game. I still don't get why most PS3 FPS devs force you to use R1 and L1 as fire and zoom respectively. I have Gioteck triggers glued to my DS3, so I'd rather be able to use R2 and L2.

Anyway, the demo has me well excited for the full game. Can't wait for the 22nd.

I'll probably pick this one up once I finish Fable 3 and Fallout New Vegas. It looks like it will be a nice improvement over the second one.

I'm kind of annoyed that I have to wait til Friday for it, since we were initially led to believe that it was getting a worldwide release on the 22nd. What gets me the most is that the rest of the EU got it yesterday, so why the hell do us UK gamers have to wait until the 25th?

I want it, but I want Homefront more so that is where my money is going. I'll pick Killzone 3 up when it is cheaper on the used rack.

I got the steelbook edition today. It came with the KZ3 soundtrack, the Retro Map Pack, a dynamic theme, and double XP for the first 24 hours I'm online. Am a few hours into the campaign so far, and I'm loving it.

The game looks absolutely beautiful, and the controls feel more balanced than KZ2. I'm also enjoying where the story is going at the moment.

I'll finish the campaign first before I delve into the multiplayer side, but I was in both beta tests for that so I'm already familiar with it. Gonna make the most of that double XP over the weekend.

I broke down and bought it and I love it, but it seemed too short. I finished it already. I hope there is a Killzone 4.
