Kieko wanted them to do it!

No one, and especially no WIFE is that thick! In "Looking for Par'Mak in all the wrong places" Miles and Kira are being drawn to each other like animals on heat, and every time they find the strength to keep their clothes on... Kieko intensifies the intimacy of their FORBIDDEN relationship with this or that until the chief and the XO are finally signed up for a dirty weekend where he can rub her feet all the way up to the top.

No one is that dense! So, if Kieko was trying to make her husband have an affair, why? Here's some answers from the tip of my diseased brain...

1. Kieko was having an affair already, and wanted to even the odds without getting yelled at. If they were both secretly having affairs then there marriage was on an even keel.

2. The sex act is supposed to be calming for children still inside mommy. Gentle rocking and such. And Kieko might prefer that it was her husband gently rocking her unborn child than some of the riffraff Kira usually runs with.

3. Men have to be punished for making women pregnant by having sex with pregnant women. Which is as much about their insane moods as much as the atypical body-shape which doesn't bend in the familiar ways and lends weight to unusual areas which used to be a good tipping point. Uncomfortable and embarrassing, sew and reap...

4. Conversely men also have to be punished for making women pregnant by being denied sex for an unnaturally long period, sometimesw for even months after the birth I have heard of some gals getting away with... But since Kieko didn't have a reason to deny him sex, she had to create a situation where Kira would be forced to deny Miles sex. This of course is mostly not an issue for a planned pregnancy.

4. Kieko wanted revenge for when Miles would *&^% her, when she needed it and asked for it, in TNG Rascals after she had been turned into a 12 year old when then she was also rejected by her first child for not being the mommy. Not the wife and not the mommy, this lady had an axe to grind.

5. It was the first step in some master plan to have a continuous string of threesomes with Kira.

Wanna bet? There's nothing even particularly unusual about the "unsuspecting spouse" playing the enabler role in extramarital affairs. There'd be a lot fewer of them otherwise.

I once posited that Keiko knew, and used her forcing of events to essentially neutralize these feelings between them. By forcing them to the brink, she prevented a slow leak, as it were, from drawing them together.

The thought of Kira doing Keiko, especially if it's evil pagh-wraith Keiko, is pretty fucking hot.

I knew she was a coniving cunning... That's quite clever.

It occurs to me that once Kieko got used to another woman, a friend, carrying her baby, it would become very easy to see her as family. It's entirely palusible that she wouldn't expect Miles to see her in any other way as well. Maternal and paternal instintCs would want to see Kira well taken care of because that also contributes to the well being of the baby.

Well, she was once married to Max Klinger. That requires a bit of the scam artist. :D

Now that I think of it the OP is right about Kieko being an enabler to a possible affair. Sure she wanted the Chief and Kira to be at ease with was another…but would she have tolerated an intimate relationship? hummm I dunno…

…maybe she did have an affair when she was on that firecave expedition…she was a little too swarmy in her encouragement of the Chief and Kira…or was it just me?

What about if it was pagh-wraith-possessed Keiko and Prophet-possessed Kira? That would be one religious experience for poor Miles.

One of Rosalind Chao's first major TV roles was that of Soon-Lee Han Klinger, a young woman Max met and fell in love with the final two episodes of the series. He not only married her in the finale, but stayed behind in Korea for a time to help her find her family. Returning to the states (In the short-lived sequel, AfterMASH), the couple encountered discrimination, ultimately settling next to Potter and his wife in River Bend, MO, to staff a vets' hospital with the Padre, who eventually had part of his hearing restored. After a first year that had its ups and downs, they had a son, whom Soon-Lee comically insisted be named Cy Young Klinger, thinking it was the name of a Korean baseball player.

Soon-Lee's character was sometimes a bit of a sitcom stereotype, concerning the immigrant experience, but it never quite fell into viciousness or caricature.

I agree Keiko wanted them to do it but I do not agree with the reasons for that which are listed in the OP.

I think Keiko knew that due to her never-ending bitchiness, Miles was soon to either divorce her or come up with an even more drastic solution.

She wanted him to do Kira to help expedite the divorce and so that the Judge will find Miles at fault and therefore give her more of Miles' assets in the divorce proceedings.

A Deity Threesome....

The catholics like to talk about something called the Holy trinity. The father, the son and the holy ghost... This trinity would be the Mother, the father and the other Mother... unless of course one of them fades into being a ghost?

The Horney Trinity?

After Mash never got rerun down here, I barely recall that it existed.

Are we absolutely sure that Yoshi was Miles' kid? From the "how did this happen" speech we did see, there was a tiny margin for his seed to have made it's way in. If she was having an affair with lots of rumpy pumpy on that botanical survey then the odds are better for that guy to have been the father?

If he was going to be raising someone elses child, then the least she could do is let her husband have someone elses crotch for just a little while? ...Wierdly, and non scientifically, maybe kieko thought the child really wasn't Miles kid and that miles would be able to smell the un-O'Brien-ness on the new born sprog instantly and her only chance to avoid a messy break up and discovery was to cake the child in Miles "sent"?

The chief is like any other man, he finds himself attracted to other women but O'Brien never acts on it. :)

You're just saying that because he restrained himself somehow around Julian. Tell me he wasn't a girl half the time!

Although... Children of Time, y'know... It took ten years, but stranded on an alien world some whiley woman did the nasty with O'Brien behind Kieko's back 150 years before she was born. If I recall the description of the first winter with everyone huddled for warmth in the hulk of the defiant... Most everyone had blue balls.

I mean that's some serious technicalities, but he cheated, and if 10 years is the amount of time he can go without "It" ...Then lest I mention that Miles O'Brien subjectively spent 20 years alone in a cell with the same guy once? Now how different would that story have been if they mentioned all the gay sex between the two of them, amidst the other OZ plot like Prison brutalities?
