The 3D film archive is crowdfunding to restore the 1952 Abbott & Costello version of Jack and the Beanstalk: https://www.kickstarter.com/project...e-abbott-and-costellos-jack-and-the-beanstalk Can choose between a DVD or a Bluray version. They've successfully restored Africa Screams via kickstarter before, which got a great writeup: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3dfilmarchive/save-abbott-and-costellos-africa-screams https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Africa-Screams-Blu-ray/79955/#Review (note, Jack & the Beanstalk was never a 3D film - the 3DFA restore 2D films too, such as Africa Screams)
Loved this movie as a kid. Costello, with his childlike screen persona, fit perfectly into the movie’s premise. Bud Abbott, with his cranky impatient thing, not so much, but that was part of the reason the movie was funny to me. I’d love to see it again.
Just to give a quick update, they smashed past all their stretch goals so far, and have just announced the final one, which they're less then $1000 away from: https://www.kickstarter.com/project...ostellos-jack-and-the-beanstalk/posts/3015872 This will give them the funds to do a 4K scan of the original 16mm kinescope of the TV sketch with Abbot & Costello where Universal's new monster for "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" was first unveiled, and put it on the BD.
