Kickstartering dormant properties: name your price!

I'd actually pay a $100 for each blu-ray of the unspecial editions of the original Star Wars trilogy. (maybe not kickstart but if they were guaranteed somehow)
Basically already available. ;)

Obviously not as good but I've seen a video on youtube where a guy took all the material available and put together a video of what the original [Golden Compass] ending would have been like. Might be worth checking out if you haven't seen it?
Thanks for the ref; I have seen it, I even corresponded with its creator, EnergyUK, several years ago. It's neat, but, as you say, it ain't the real deal. And if I were that little girl, I'd be pissed that my biggest scene to date still hasn't been released in any form.

Speaking of which, I might pay up to $100 or so for a preorder of dvds for an HBO adaptation of The Golden Compass, provided it ran at least three hours. Maybe $150 if Rachel Weisz played Mrs. Coulter. :bolian:

- LEGO could probably get me to pre-pay $75 for a TNG bridge set with crew. I'd want to see CG mockups first, of course.

You aren't a LEGO fan are you? That type of set would have to be like $100 because of the license and mini figure amount.

However make up a CGI sketch and stick it up to be voted on. 10,000 votes makes it possible, but very very doubtful.

While I prefer to support Indie productions like Space Command or Chris Mihm's films, there are definitely existing franchises that I would chip in to resurrect. Star Trek, Babylon 5, Stargate, Twilight Zone and Firefly spring immediately to mind, but there are undoubtedly others. I'd also pay for Indie projects from mainstream producers, like RHW's Defender or Larry Blamire's next film (which I heard he might take to Kickstarter). There are certainly books I would pay for, like more Haviland Tuf or Englehart's Blue Blood.

I remember the idea some Star Trek fans had to raise money for a season 5 "Enterprise"

They couldn't even afford a fraction of the cost to pay for one episode($500,000 to 2 million)

Too bad Kickstarter wasn't around. If Veronica Mars can raise three million bucks, we could have at least gotten a decent finale for Enterprise.

For that you would have had to fire all the actors, and everything that made the show Enterprise.

I was a fan as a kid, but I haven't much cared for their recent stuff, and their absurd minifig prices and scarcities drove me away long ago.

Yeah the price of a minifigure is nutty. You used to get several in a 100$ set, now you get 3-4. It's really insane.

Their recent stuff sells, and it keeps them going which makes me happy, but I agree, it lacks at times.

However the Cuusoo site I linked to did get a Back to the Future set to be made, which is pretty cool.

If Whedon were into it, with original cast, and not too much further out from now, I'd contribute a significant amount to another installment of Firefly.

I'd put money towards an Aaron Sorkin written and directed continuation of West Wing. Or Studio 60.

An Apatow helmed relaunch of Freaks & Geeks

Dead Like Me continued in any form.

Yeah, a Sorkin-written West Wing miniseries could probably join my shortlist now that you mention it.

I love The West Wing, but there is nothing else I need to see with those characters, I feel complete after watching the show. Not every TV show needs a miniseries or movie.

I don't need it, I don't really NEED anything I talk about on this forum. I wouldn't mind seeing where they all are today though, or how that world stands.

I'd pay for a new Firefly or TNG or DS9 movie. Maybe an X-Files movie if it was better than the last one. Nothing else!
