Khan!!! The Musical!

Khan!!! The Musical! is a parody/reimagining of The Wrath of Khan as, well, a musical, written by Brent Black. It debuted in 2023 in New York city, then had showings in Texas and Buffalo.

There's also a TNG-era framing device with Data having produced the musical on the holodeck as one of his "understanding humanity" experiments, like that time with Joe Piscapo teaching him stand-up comedy.

A few weeks ago a music-video edit of one of the songs floated across my socials, and I got the whole soundtrack album earlier today since it was Bandcamp Friday (if you aren't allergic to streaming music like I am, the album is on all those services, as well as YouTube).

I ran across this a couple weeks ago myself. Good stuff. TWOK has the high drama needed for a musical.

This showed up in my feed in relation to my searches on the Khan podcast series, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

I saw this… a while back and then was unable to locate it again.

It’s really nicely done. Thank you for sharing, David!

It manages to be silly AND Star Trek at the same time. Spock's death actually broke me up! It does a better job of explaining why Spock has to fix the ship than the movie does.

I forget where it is (towards the end) but there is ONE nod to Horner's score that I heard (the rising figure in Spock's theme). EDIT: It's right after Kirk says Spock's soul was "the most human". And Saavik calls him "spacist".

This is pretty amazing.

And that video of Have I Still Got the Magic using actual footage is terrific.

Spock babaloo bop Spock bam boom.

I was going to mention this in the book club thread when you get there, but I'm pretty sure Brent Black was familiar with the novelization, based on the part in the first ambush scene where Khan flips out on Kirk asking for more time, something that's in the novel but not the movie.

I almost posted this there myself. The timing was perfect. But I decided to look for an existing thread instead. ;)
