Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman DTV

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

I had a chance to re watch the JLU episode where Lex switches bodies with Flash and Michael Rossenbaum gets to portray Lex and Mike did a tremedous job mimicking Clancy's voice and even throwing in some Flashisms. I would have liked to see Micheael get the job but Clancy is an awesome Luthor, nice to see Tim Daly back.

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

I see Giganta, Black Manta...excuse me, Devil Ray, and Copperhead, but who is the guy on the far left. and the three on the right. The big red guy with the funky head almost looks like a redesign of the Atomic Robot From JLU S1 ep 1...
The guy on the far left looks like Hawk (a.k.a. Monarch; although the color scheme is different from the comics). The big red guy is Brimstone, who was used in JLU, although I don't think they named him in the episode. The guy with the slashes on his chest is, I believe, Catman. And the guy at the far right who's partly out of the frame looks like Deadshot.

Thanks for the help...I thought Hawk was a Leaguer...

It is Catman with the claw marks on his costume.

As for the one on the far left, that's the Kestrel. He's a villain of Hawk & Dove.

If your only interest is in her superficial anatomical features, though, why should the differences in her origin and personality matter?

Doesn't matter. She still wasn't Power Girl.

They both did very well at mimicking each other. Though that's largely because of the way Andrea Romano recorded their performances: for a Flash line, for instance, first she'd have Rosenbaum read the line in character, then have Brown mimic his delivery to get the version that would be used in the episode. And vice-versa for a Lex line.

Ironically, even though the episode was conceived as a Smallville homage with Rosenbaum playing Lex, it turned out that we heard a lot more of Brown playing the Flash, because Lex in Flash's body was too busy fighting to talk much.

Allison Mack from Smallville is voicing a character in it according to Kryptonsite.

To be evil they should have her voice Lois Lane...

Eh, maybe she's Power Girl?

Good catch. His costume design is very similar to Hawk's (albeit with a different color scheme), which is why I thought of Hawk. Kestrel had completely slipped my mind, though.

My Precognition training is paying off. Gotta get to those lottery tickets...

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

I re-read the Public Enemies TPB today and really look forward to this on DVD. Since this is a stand-alone story (separate from JLU and other series and also doesn't focus on origins like Wonder Woman and GL), I wonder how they're going to approach character development. Or will they even bother? For most comic fans, they already know the main and secondary characters, but those who aren't so familiar with the DCU may find it hard to identify or connect with people like Captain Atom, Power Girl, the Batman family, etc. I can hardly wait.

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

I imagine it'll just be a JLU style of unexplained superhero and supervillain cameos where you don't even learn what their names are.

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

The artwork isn't impressive. Why can't they with their CGI marvels ever create a Jim Lee drawn cartoon?

Because that would be way too expensive for a DTV. Plus they're aiming here for artwork that translates Ed McGuinness's style into animation, not Jim Lee's style. If they adapt a Jim Lee storyline then they'll aim at translating his style. I think the artwork is impressive for this budget level.

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

^ Part of the goal of the DTV's has been to explore different forms of animation...at least that is what Timm and the other producers have stated in the past. Ed McGuiness has a very distinctive anime style to his art work that fits right in with what they are trying to accomplish. Superman/Batman Public Enemeis therefor wouldn't work if they weren't looking at translating that art to the small screen. If they were to use Jim Lee's art they would have to adapt For Tomorrow, which I hope they won't. Besides which McGuiness's work on the first arc of Superman/Batman was one of the reasons I am looking forward to seeing this DVD. I love his rendition of Superman.
