Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman DTV

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

The pics look a bit different from other DCAU series/DVDs like the JLU. I don't suppose Bruce Timm is involved in the production.

That picture looks like its from the Metallo/Superman fight.

Bruce Timm is producing all of the DC Universe DTV movies, including this one, but he's increasingly taking more of a supervising role and giving as much hands-on control, including with regard to design work, to others.

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

Well it kind of looks like its trying to respect the art of the source material, has that heavy Ed Guiness vibe, with the bulkier looking characters, and slightly angular features.

I think this is one of the few DC DTVs I might actually pick up

What a bizarre thing to assume. It's not like one person does everything. Timm produces all the DVD movies, but each one has had a different director and character designers, so none of them have been in Timm's own design style. They've had certain house similarities in terms of line and color, but they've all intentionally used different character design styles to differentiate themselves from the DCAU and from one another.

This. Is. Awesome! News! :D

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

This is going to my favorite DCAU Movie... unless they do Sinestro Corps War :D

I wasn't assuming ... anything as much as I was asking asking an indirect question? Bah, go back to writing your mediocre novels.

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

Mania has an article up announcing that the DVD will be released on Sep 29 along with the two disc special edition's features but there doesn't seem like there will be an audio commentary track with this movie, will make the first DCU DVD without an audio commentary (not sure if Brainiac Attacks counts with this batch). It also has a sneak peak for the next DCU DVD release.

WOOT!

I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but I can't ID some of the LoD-ers in pic 8.

I see Giganta, Black Manta...excuse me, Devil Ray, and Copperhead, but who is the guy on the far left. and the three on the right. The big red guy with the funky head almost looks like a redesign of the Atomic Robot From JLU S1 ep 1...

Don't forget the board limitations on image resolution and filesize. ;)
Whoops, sorry.

The guy on the far left looks like Hawk (a.k.a. Monarch; although the color scheme is different from the comics). The big red guy is Brimstone, who was used in JLU, although I don't think they named him in the episode. The guy with the slashes on his chest is, I believe, Catman. And the guy at the far right who's partly out of the frame looks like Deadshot.

That childish tone is totally uncalled for. Christopher is one of the most intelligent and thoughtful posters on TrekBBS. Even when I don't agree with his conclusions his posts are always worth reading. The novels I have read of his have been fantastic too.

Thanks for the help...I thought Hawk was a Leaguer...

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

The Katar Hol Hawkman is JLA, but Carter Hall (the Golden Age one, now the only one) has always been JSA.

Anywho, I did enjoy this story years ago but there were problems. So let's hope the animated take will be an improvement.

I wonder if Clancy Brown will change the voice any when doing "Good President" Lex, to seem "softer" or anything. And then he goes back to the DCAU Lex we all know and love when the cameras are off.

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

Yay! Finally, Power Girl's boobies are animated! Yay!

they've been already. justice league unlimited. they got quite the exposure too. a few episodes. :)

Ah, but that wasn't quite Power Girl though.

If your only interest is in her superficial anatomical features, though, why should the differences in her origin and personality matter?

It definitely doesn't. It was a cheap rush job to tie in with Superman Returns and it was aimed at a young audience. Bruce Timm had nothing to do with it; the only reason it reused DCAU designs is because the production was too rushed to allow developing new character designs. The DC Universe movie series produced by Timm is PG-13, aimed at an older audience.

We already saw/heard Lex as a seemingly reformed man and a presidential candidate in the first two seasons of JLU.

Re: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Clancy Brown to voice Superman/Batman

I know, but even then it seemed like he was hiding something evil underneath the public mask. I was wondering if Brown would actually try to do a good guy voice as President Lex and then switch to the darker Lex we all know in private.
