Kelly's Heroes

I just rewatched this, and it continues to bring a smile. Too many war films send their messages by being serious, this one does so very much more than most. Positive waves baby,!

A terrific and fun film all the way. Sutherland, O'conner, Rickles, Savalas, and Eastwood made for a great cast. Watched back to back with the Dirty Dozen and you have a great night of WWII films.

Indeed, though I would double feature it with The Great Escape.

That leads me to think, war movie double features, what would you reccomend? For instance Sink the Bismark and The Battle of the River Plate

I love Kelly's Heroes, its on my dvd shelf somewhere.

And it should naturally be paired with Three Kings, for a war movie/caper movie double header.

Great little movie, very funny.

I first saw it on a slightly peculiar double bill (they used to show two movies for the price of one, guys) with M*A*S*H.

I haven't seen it in decades and I can't really remember a damn thing about it... excpet, I know I love it. It seemed to be on every Christmas when I was a kid, and my dad and I always watched it together.

"It's still up!" *Airplane flies in and bombs the bridge he was looking at* "Nah it aint!"

Great movie, too long since I saw it.

Wonderful movie - it still holds up quite well. :techman:

The song that plays over the closing credits (burning bridges) is one of my dad's favorites. For a while he would just play his VHS tape of the movie's final moments just to hear that song...over and over. Fortunately, I finally found it on a CD.

Or maybe The Bridge at Remagen showing just about the same period of the war.

... and Ingrid Pitt in that Bavarian barmaid's outfit just to make things perfect. :)

It's too bad that Mary Ure was so insecure that she had Ingrid's role cut drastically. They were both beautiful ladies, and now both are gone. :(
