I don't think it's a secret that Keiko often comes under fire on the BBS for various reasons.

There was some curiosity from myself and other posters as to whether posters who have experienced marriage might have a more favorable view of Keiko in general than posters who have not experienced marriage.

Let's find out!

Thanks for creating this poll!

I don't have time at the moment, but later tonight I will elaborate on my feelings and vote.

I had a favorable view of Keiko before I was married, and it hasn't changed since I am married.

I think the way she was written on DS9 is consistent with the writing of most other supporting characters on DS9: The role is well written, vivid and believable, and with a dash of humor.

Perhaps her marriage to Miles is the most realistic, but at least the most sympathetic portrayal of a relationship in a Star Trek series so far, imo.

It is tough to choose, because I didn't like her mostly because I was young. Back then everything was more black and white for me. "She knew she could not do her work and that Miles has a huge responsibility with his job, so what is she nagging about?"

Because I am older I understand her more but It has nothing to do with being married

Yeah, DS9 bucks the trend of that quaint notion of "Hey, everyone loves families, let's have characters hook up! We can give them kids too!" yet we ended up with Wesley and Alexander and the went-nowhere-because-the-new-show-wasn't-making-it-feel-authentic Troi/Riker and the always-loopy-and-quietly-dropped Troi/Worf, the Crusher ill-fated fam, and, best of all, the life of Alexander only showing what a bad father Worf was because TNG was throwing everything at the wall. Like when Maxwell and Fran got married, nobody knew what to do with it. And for a different Max, but with 99? Ditto There's another Seven from another show that just disappeared... And the less said of poor cousin Oliver the better but it wasn't the actor's fault! And Dorothy said in the very first episode she wasn't going to marry again but in the series finale 7 years later she marries... Sadly, all these references are sitcoms because most outright dramas aren't my gig and most sci-fi just won't do domestic situations. So long-winded story aside, it's a huge win that DS9 managed to make the O'Briens compelling.

13 votes in, for all the kvetching I've seen about Keiko in the past, it seems weird that none of those people have apparently participated here yet...

Also, I liked Troi/Worf and it bugged me that we never really got to see what happened to their relationship (I can't remember whether PIC really got into that at any point). I daresay I liked it more than Troi/Riker (though "Nepenthe" was a pretty good ep), and I especially liked that they flirted with the idea of them as a couple before going with it.
