kay, i give up

To properly prank someone you should shit in the tank, not the bowl.

Just sayin'.

I've found that I've enjoyed all the series to varying degrees, even Star Trek 2009. I've also found components in every series that I dislike, including my favorite The Original Series.

I can't imagine being a Star Trek fan and not embracing it all. It's forty years of idealism, good and bad, all wrapped in a wildly inconsistent package. :techman:

You suck at guessing. Deductive reasoning isn't your forté either.

Tell ya what. Next time I'm in Ireland, I'll be sure to shit in your toilet and not flush. Then we'll be even. ;)

How 'bout you guys knock this shit off. I'm even crankier than usual as I've just come off of a day and a half of a vicious stomach flu.

So don't make me put on the Romulan boots. :vulcan:

And here I find the condensed running times of modern Trek to force such a truncated feeling story-telling style.

Pacing of action and dialogue is much faster in most modern shows, so that wouldn't be a problem if Trek had adapted its production style to changing times.

That's true. I've picked up a few DVD sets of crime shows from that period--like Mannix, which was on the air at the same time as TOS--and I've been surprised at just how slow they seemed. The pacing of most episodes of TOS was actually fairly brisk by the standards of the time.

I agree, the pacing of the shows was much different in 1960's. Having those extra ten minutes allowed for more storytelling. You really have to pay attention to the shows of that period and not have them on as background noise. The plots are lot more intricate that what is on TV today.
