I know that Captain Janeway's first name is Kathryn. A couple episodes I remember people shortening her name to Kathy (by Chakotay?) or Katie (as in Katie O'Clare on the holodeck). Did she go by any other nickname (and I don't mean names by the fans such as "buns of steel")? Which nickname was used the most??? Or do you think that most people just stuck to Kathryn??
She's Kathy, no question. Katie O'Clare was a nom de guerre. Like Dixon Hill or Sherlock Holmes. Another name I've heard her called is Wrongway Janeway
Q called her Kathy, not Chakotay, and Wrongway Janeway was a character from Gilligans Island. I tend to call her Kathy, but only when i am being disrespectful.
I didn't think Chakotay had ever called her Kathy Janeway is Kathryn, end of story. Q could get away with calling her Kathy, but he's the only one. And no one, but no one should have ever called her Katie
Chakotay never used any nicknames for her. As for Katie, there was that admiral (Patterson?) in Relativity. He gave her a pop quiz when she beamed onto Voyager for the first time and then said "Now give me a hug, Katie." I imagine that those who had known her as a cadet or before (and also maybe her family) would be the most likely to call her that affectionately and get away with it. Mark called her Kath. I always figured Q chose to call her Kathy because it might not have been a nickname she'd care much for. His modus operandi is to get under people's skin, and what better way than with a nickname someone finds distasteful.
No, that was Wrongway Feldman (played by the great Hans Conried), who was named, in turn, after Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan.
