Kate Mulgrew - Some good news for UK fans.

Hi, guys.

I flew out to Dragon*Con in Atlanta last week - been back home about an hour now, so I'm very jet-lagged, but I thought I'd share this little titbit with you all...Kate Mulgrew is coming back to the UK...very soon!

It was the first time I had met Kate, and I have to say, she was a very lovely lady! She was signing with Shatner, and Nimoy, and whilst they were happy to see everyone, they really didn't speak to you...understandable due to the amount of people there, but Mulgrew was very warm, very approachable, and very friendly, and we chatted to her for a couple of minutes - actually, talking to us, she made herself late for her own talk she was giving!

She was asking my girlfriend and I if we were together, and how long, and was surprised that we came all the way from England to see her, and talked about her past experiences there, and we asked her if she had any plans to return to the UK, and she said "Actually, yes! I'm coming back, very soon - talk to that guy over there..." Unfortunately, the guy she pointed to turned around and run off somewhere, and we didn't see him again.

But there you go; if you want to meet Kate Mulgrew, and live in the UK, she's coming back, and confirmed it in person! :)

You're probably wondering why I'm posting this, but if any UK fans check out the Showmasters site out, remember about the guest signings that went tits-up a couple of weeks ago? Well, we think it's Kate Mulgrew that is coming - he's led on it's a guy, but I think it is a red herring, and it's actually Kate instead.

Met Garrett Wang this weekend as well - funny guy! We invited him to a party, and he was up for it - made a note in his diary, and checked with his wife...unfortuetly, we were kicked out of several places for being too rowdy, so I don't think he knew where to find us, and missed the party. Shame, as he was a fun guy!

Hey! Oh my God are you serious???? That's so crazy, am a huge fan of Kate Mulgrew and just wishing and hoping for a way I could meet her one day, wishing she'd come to England and stumbled across your message.

Am pretty knew to this who world what's Showmaster's or where is it? Have you any idea how to find out when/ where in England she's visiting?

Thanks for giving me hope,
Hope to hear from you!

:-)

Plan to be there. I saw her on stage years ago at a convention, girl puts on a good show.

I saw Kate and Garrett at D*C this weekend, too.

Garrett was the nicest guy. I got his autograph and he noticed I was with the 501st and we started talking about costumes. I mentioned that I had done my Janeway costume the night before and he seemed excited about that and said he wanted a picture. (I figured he was just being nice and went with the joke.)

Turns out, when I went to my Mulgrew photo op (she didn't seem too bothered that I was dressed like her character), Garrett was there and he really *did* take a picture of the two of us. :bolian:

I followed all that up with my second big "nerd" moment of the con and got Kate to sign the picture of us. Again, she took in stride my geek-ness of having been dressed like Janeway. Her handler, however, got all excited and wanted to know why I wasn't still wearing the costume. :rommie:

I'm a total geek. I know it and embrace it. But I often wonder just how dorky these stars think we are when they see us coming up to them in situations like this. :cardie:

On a side note, John Billingsley and Anthony Montgomery were also extremely friendly and talkative. This year was probably the best year I've had for interactions with stars on the Walk of Fame.

You know the signings that go on in London/Milton Keynes/Manchester/Glasgow? The Collectamania events? Showmasters is the company that runs all that.

It's a shame you didn't know about it...Leonard Nimoy, Andrew Robinson, Avery Brooks was all there at the MK Dons arena back in June, plus loads of others.

I bought a five-captains event back in July at an event Scott Bakula was at, so I got him there, and Shatner, Stewart, and Mulgrew last weekend...all I need is Brooks, and I got them all. My other half has completed her photo. I could have got Brooks in July, but I was a bit skint. No matter, he's doing cons all the time, now.

Hey Original Guru!

Thanks for replying to my post. I know I feel like a complete goon (for want of a better word) that I didn't know about showmasters, star trek conventions or even this blog/ forum til the other day (am still finding my way round this place), feel like I've missed out on so much, am gutted!

Found the showmasters website and followed all the links but it doesn't give away any info about the possibility Kate will be at one, do they update it nearer the time?... ah you're so lucky you gotta meet all those peeps am so jealous, but of course pleased for you! Will deffo have to make it to an event, I grew up watching star trek, though I have to say Captain Janeway's my fav!

Eeek am so excited she might be coming to England - will be devastated though if I miss her!

Have a good day everyone!

Eeee, that would be wonderful! I went over to see her at Dragon*Con as well, but an event closer to home is always a bonus. :)

I don't think it was her from a few weeks ago on Showmasters' site, though, as they said repeatedly as it was someone who'd never signed before in the UK, and Kate has done quite a few events here, including theirs.

But either way, hooray! Wherever it is in the UK, I'll be there! :D

You might be right. I was only theorising; trust me, Jason Joiner likes to do this sort of thing. Then again, he's also the kind of person who thinks "the third Stormtrooper on the left" is a big guest.

Now, that's cool! Actually, I have a feeling I may have seen you. I only saw two "Janeway's" the entire weekend, so I'm willing to bet a penny-to-a-pound you were one of them!

Hey guys! Anyone heard any more news about Kate visiting England???? Heard she's making an appearance at the Big Apple but nothing else is on the grapevine. Hope you're all well!

Since we're talking about Kate Mulgrew I'd like to point out that I watched a new TV show tonight called "Mercy" and had happened to spot her in it! :D She plays a drunken mother and it's kinda funny. But she looks fabulous in it! :D

Is it available outside the US? On You Tube or something? I heard on another forum it was coming out and like the sound of it I'd love to see her playing a drunken mother!

Hey Frazzled!

I'm tryna get hold of it too - apparently you can watch episodes online on the NBC website but it won't let me view it from England. . . but there's been rumours that its gona be put on you tube or www.surfthechannel.com but might take a couple of days. Will let you know if I find anything!

Yeah, it's actually a pretty good show. And at least she's in some of it! I think it's a small role, but it was great seeing her. I also loved her playing a drunk! She was always at the bar or at home drinking wine. :D It was a sight to see. I couldn't get over how great she looked in that episode though! :) She even looks somewhat younger to me.

thanks, janewayrocks, for picking that up for Mulgrew fans who haven't had the pleasure of watching her new show "Mercy". I didn't get to watch tonight's episode, sadly, but am very glad and happy to know that she's on the show. :D

No problem mates! Happy I could help, Kate is fab in it I only wish we saw more of her, hope they develop her character a bit :-).

If I ever could meet a single Trek actor/actress it'd be Kate Mulgrew. I'm glad my dream may become a reality.
