Karl Urban the villain? (POSS. SPOILERS)

Yeah, so IESB is reporting that Karl Urban might be the main bad guy in the new film. They also referenced that story in AICN from a while back about

Romulans
being in the film. If true, I was hoping they'd get someone with a little bit more weight. But Urban's ok.

Oh, here's the article. BEWARE of spoilers.

Sounds like Berman is the casting director on this film. B Grade actors and unknowns. We really don't need this.

First the possibility of Scotty being played by Paul McGillion, now this?

If one or both of these come through, I might actually have to watch this movie in the theatre.

I dunno who Karl Urban is, but I would love a good movie about

Romulans

even if it had to include

time travel

Karl Urban was Éomer in Lord of the Rings (the horseman captain, nephew of King Theoden) and was the lead in the movie version of "Doom". He was also the assassin in "The Bourne Surpremacy." I'm sure he's been in other things, too, but those are the places I've seen him.

Yeah, that's how most of Star Trek came about, wasn't it? With relatively unknown or low-limelight actors, I mean.

He was also Cupid and Julius Caesar on Xena and Hercules.

Urban was also in The Chronicles of Riddick. If Berman gets Urban then he should invite Marton Csokas too.

The main villain is still going to be a big name, so Urban might be someone working with him.

Karl Urban is good actor and i have seen himin TLOTR, The Chronicles of Riddick and Doom. He did good job on all of those films. Good news indeed

As it's unfolding (based on what Trekmovie.com can and cannot confirm) it seems so far that:

So, the Borg (sorry Romulans) go back in time to assimilate (sorry, destroy) Earth. Our hero, Picard (sorry, Spock) is aware of this and must stop it. All they really need to do is have the Romulans replacing the real Kirk with a clone who will do their bidding and they've covered most of the bases.

Of course, whether it'll be good or not will be in the execution of the story.
