Karen Gillan

I would've been disappointed in this thread if a picture hadn't emerged.

Also as an aside, you mentioned that Caitlin Blackwood was there and I saw this picture of young Caitlin that brings out the family resemblence.

She's adorable.

It's like Scarlett Pomers and Kirsten Dunst had a baby.

Apart from Selfie getting cancelled, is it just me or does Karen seem to be getting a better American career lately than Smith? Smith has appeared mainly in that Ryan Gosling flop and will reportedly play an older version of the Danny Cooksey character from Terminator 2 in the new Terminator movie. Seriously. Then again Tennant has struggled too with Rex is your lawyer and the adaptation of Broadchurch. However being Purple Man in the MTU might help.

Perhaps he's trying a bit too hard to seperate himself from the Doctor by bulking up and trying to have more 'badass' roles.

Then again, KG did similar with Nebula in GotG. But who knows, it's not like there's any guarantees in show business. Could be any number of factors: looks, luck, drive, talent, agent, friends, typecasting, timing, and on and on.

Know what odd alumni I see a lot of for some reason? Burn Gorman from Torchwood. Though Carey Mulligan is probably the highest profile though not a regular.

Wow, she's getting even more like Karen as she gets older (apart from the eye colour...).

They should do a DW episode where 12 runs into young Amelia Pond. As the episode ends, as the TARDIS dematerializes, Amelia sees it and.....

Envious about the Karen Gillan photo op! I hope she comes to our ComicCon someday. This year we have Billie Piper coming though.

Yea, it gives some credibilitity to Martha's cousin being her twin

^^Although it is kind of weird that Martha and her cousin are identical, but there isn't that much of a resemblance between Martha and her parents or siblings.

I think you have an unrealistic concept of what it means to have a successful career as an actor. Having the number of projects you have listed is a successful American career. Are they on the top of the celebrity world? No. But they're rich, they can more than support themselves as actors, and they're able to get work. That's not "struggling."

How do you know that they're rich?

I imagine Karen Gillan was probably making more per episode of Selfie than most of us see in a year. Plus Guardians of the Galaxy wasn't exactly a small paycheck. Maybe she's not crapping into a golden toilet with a different butler for different things, but she's a lot better off than most people are.

Plus she's done other films like Occulus.

Re Tennant I bet he makes more just doing voice over work than most of us see in a year, before you even get to his live action film/TV work.

You don't star on one of the top five most successful television programs in the United Kingdom for three years without getting rich in the process, and you don't go on to star in multiple major studio motion pictures and U.S. network television programs without continuing to make more money than most people see in years' worth of wages.

They're rich. Maybe not uber-rich, but they can definitely afford not to work if they don't want to.

I'd like to see some proof of that, no Dcotor actor has ever admitted to becoming rich while working on Doctor Who.
