Karen Gillan going wild in New york

Part of me thinks youthful hijinks, but part of me worries at the notion of anyone sitting naked in a hotel corridor whimpering.

I hope she's ok.

Anyway isn't that usually... a certain Trek-related actress' job? Only ranting rather than whimpering?

Nah, if it was true somebody would have taken and posted cameraphone pics... And the story's from a bit of BBC-bashing from the Hate Mail, so that's another strike against it.

Do I need to hand back my phaser that I don't know who that is? Please enlighten me, I'm curious now!

Maybe it was a drunken dare to streak around the hotel corridors but then someone wouldn't let her back in!

No else is concerned about the bruise on her arm? I suppose it could have been sustained after a hard fall. I do hope she is okay and this is just a wild night of fun and nothing serious was the trigger for it.

This thread is full of fail.

People get drunk from time to time.

People get bruises from time to time.

They even walk out the wrong door in the middle of the night when in a strange room from time to time.

None of that means your in a downward spiral of booze, pills and addiction.

Yeah, the focus on the bruise is just ridiculous. I find bruises all the time that I have no idea how I got. People bump into things all the time, and I'm pretty sure if there was anything to hide she wouldn't have been wearing a sleeveless dress!

I wasn't trying to be ridiculous, it is noticeable on that one picture though and as I said in my post yes I hope it was just a wild night of boozing and fun.

I think we have to remember the difference between the British attitude to drink and the one across the pond.

True, some Americans often seem a bit puritanical about alcohol, but then we sometimes aren't puritanical enough ;)

In fairness a few people mentioned it. I just thought it wasn't something that really merited mentioning, if it'd been a photohoot no doubt they'd have airbrushed it out.

Well firstly, she's a young lass and nothing unusual in anyone her age getting the worse for drink.

Secondly, she was supposed to be naked and wandering the hotel, but had her room key on her??

Hmmmmm...

Yeah that does tend to inspire the question "where was she keeping it, then?" which by extension suggests the story is bullshit.

In her hand?

It's stories like this that remind me why I don't drink when stuff like this is considered "having a good time".

Didn't Karen have a bruise like that on her arm when she was on the Craig Ferguson show back in April? I seem to recall he pointed it out, and she said she fell over or something. So I'd imagine the photos are from that same publicity trip.

Also the primary "source" in the article is supposedly from a permanent resident of the hotel, who mentions she got into "the lift." Most people living in New York would say "the elevator".

Person writing the story converted American English into Real English.

That, or it's bullshit. Whichever.

into Real English.

Then the writer is quoting inaccurately. Someone should call a bobby.
