Karen Gillan going wild in New york

Don't know if this happened or not, but I find it hard to believe that multiple guests called her Lady Godiva. That's a reference that I doubt one out of a hundred Americans would get, but it's just the sort of thing that an English author would know.

And do you now what the guy said that discovered her naked?

I think more Americans are aware of Lady Godiva than you think. Remember, it's a story about a naked chick. Plus we have a chocolate bar named after her.

Also, the article doesn't imply that all the guests started spontaneously and independently calling her Lady Godiva. It only takes one guy to think of it and then everyone else just parrots his cleverness.

YEa, I think fewer would be unaware of "lady Godiva" meaning naked lady, than would be aware of it. only 1 out of 100 catching it, absolutely no way. I mean, there's even that Maude TV Series Theme song, that everybody knows from Pop Culture Osmosis, even those who've never seen a minute of it. "Lady Godiva was a Freedom Rider, she didn't care if the world looked..."

Part of me thinks youthful hijinks, but part of me worries at the notion of anyone sitting naked in a hotel corridor whimpering.

I hope she's ok.

I sometimes forget! I did once have someone ask if I use it because I'm some kind of naturist

"Lady Godiva was a Freedom Rider, she didn't care if the world looked..."

"Joan of Arc, with the Lord to guide her, she was a sister who really cooked!"...
LOL, that line, I'm not sure how it ever got past the censors, that's really quite graphic and insulting when you think about. Of course as a child, I didn't think much about a woman cooking, but, knowing who Joan of Arc was, ai-yi-yi.
